Highs School Sports are Necessary High School sports have always been questioned because of all the health risks that they bring to those who participate in them. As of now High School sports are still a major part of High School and large amount of students do them. However, many claim the pros outweigh the cons, meaning that people shouldn’t be so concerned about what “could” happen. Not only do sports keep the students healthy and active, they bring a social aspect that can’t be found anywhere else, and the odds of being injured aren’t high and can happen to anyone. Not only do Sports allow for teamwork they also teach the student athletes that if you want to succeed you have to work for it. While playing sports they will also meet new people and make new friends which is a major part of High School. Some of the core ues of participating in High School Sports are that they exemplify core values from being hardworking, to having confidence in themselves and others. According to studies from 2007 students who participate in High School Athletes that are injured are 4,321,103 males, and 3,021,807 females and the amount is rapidly increasing for a variety of reasons("High School Sports Injuries")(See figure 1). The most common injury is a concussion which occurs when your head is hit with enough force to cause your brain to shake. The effects of a concussion can vary from nausea, to major migraines, and even brain damage in some cases(Breslow). With this being said no one ever claimed High School Sports to be completely safe, and the students athletes who participate in them are well aware of the
