Persuasive Essay Against Vaccination

I am writing to express my concerns about the number of people who are not being vaccinated in our state. In Pennsylvania, we have one of the worst vaccination/immunization rates in the United States with only 87% of the people being vaccinated correctly. Vaccines protect people from preventable, spreadable diseases by providing immunity to the disease the vaccination is for. However, we have read news about the outbreaks of diseases that we thought were gone in the United States, like recent measles outbreaks. Why do people choose to take a chance that their child might get a preventable disease? Why do parents take the chance of their own child spreading a preventable disease to other people who do not have immunity? It is scientifically proven that vaccines even save lives.

This is because that when you vaccinate most of the people it helps protect those who are not vaccinated. This is called herd immunity. For example, the Centers for Disease Control releases guidelines for people to vaccinated against influenza. The more people who get vaccinated the less chance the flu has to spread to those who might have other health issues. Every state in the United States offers free vaccines if someone does not have insurance.
Vaccines save lives. I believe that and so do the majority of people. Vaccines prevent diseases that are easily spread. The more people who are vaccinated the better it is for those who really cannot be vaccinated because of herd immunity. There are no reasons not to vaccinate but many reasons to vaccinate. Unless there is a documented medical reason, all people should be vaccinated so that there is less disease spread and so we can protect those who are unable to protect themselves.
