I'm not sure if ohio in itself is declining like other states, but I do know in big gambling cities, they aren't making as much as they did. From the years 1997-2007 however, gambling was booming. Casinos alone were raking in over 40 billion in revenue a year. All of these peoples cash is really just flying out the door. One study found that only 5% of gamblers have an actually gambling disorder, but those people contribute to 25% of the casinos and state lotteries profits. These people are even contemplating suicide because of it! Another study anonymously gave out surveys to a group of gamblers with results saying that ⅔ of the participants saying that they have contemplated killing themselves, while 77% said that they wanted to die. With this new knowledge about gambling addiction, these people have a lot better chance of fixing their disorder and giving them a better quality of life in the future.
