Persuasive Essay On Battery Electric Cars
Over the last couple of years many people have wondered if battery electric vehicles (BEV’s) would soon take over the streets and pushout gas powered cars and if it would be a good idea. People should drive BEV’s instead of gas powered cars because they are better in many aspects. In this paper I will explain why it would be a good idea for you to buy a BEV by showing the benefits on your wallet, tax incentives and rewards from the government, and finishing with the effect on the environment.

One of the biggest benefits to owning a BEV is that they are inexpensive to operate and maintain. The average person in Canada drives 20,000 km per year, while driving a gas powered car it can be a very pricey way of getting from point A to B. A comparison

The reason behind climate change is the releasing of so much carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. Canada alone released 537,000,000 million tonnes of co2 emissions in 2010, and 25% of that was caused by transportation like the gas powered car, that is 134,250,000 million tonnes. The best thing about battery electric cars in my opinion is that they produce zero emissions to drive. That means if everybody in canada drove a BEV instead of a gas powered car we would eliminate one of the largest factors contributing to climate change. This one change would help significantly in the losing battle we need to win.

I think that people should drive BEV’s as an substitution for gas powered cars because they are better in many different ways. As expressed in the earlier paragraphs, the Battery Electric Vehicle is a choice filled with benefits to your wallet, rewards from the government, creating a defense to climate change and helping the environment. If you have read this and have gained an interest in bev’s I urge you to help start the

(SS)The Circuit EV can go 150 to 200 miles between charges and costs about $6 to $12 a week in electricity; in contrast, the Challenger averages 14 miles per gallon in the city and 22 on the highway Plus, based on the price of oil, gasoline can cost as much as $5 a gallon, and those dollars add up with the miles. Imagine a world where every Canadian winter is sunny and 70 degrees. While this might sound nice to Canadians who deal with brutal winters every year, this means that summers closer to the equator would be well over 100 degrees constantly. Rendering these places almost uninhabitable, our world would be in a crisis. Unfortunately, this is where our world may be headed one day, if we as humans don’t clean up energy consumption habits. One major contributing factor to global warming are the cars humans drive every, more specifically the engines that power them. Gasoline engines are a major problem because of the emissions they put into the atmosphere; however, electric engines and other alternatives may prove to be the future.…
