Persuasive Essay On Deer Breeding Disease
Deer farming should not be allowed because it has severely helped to spread Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD).Many other diseases also are found more in captive deer than in wild deer. Some of these other diseases are Tuberculosis, and Brucellosis. Chronic Wasting Disease is a neurological and fatal disease that stops the deer from functioning until it can't walk or eat. A lot more cases of Chronic Wasting Disease are found in captive or farmed deer at testing centers. When a deer contracts Chronic Wasting Disease, it requires the deer to drink so much water that often the deer often drown themselves and die in the river. This often leads to the disease infecting the stream, lake or pond that it died in.This is especially bad because it can then spread to the wild population of deer and to livestock, making the meat inedible. . Deer farmers genetically manipulate the bucks in the herd to grow over 500 inches of freakish and unnatural antlers, which is mainly a burden for the deer. According to Brian Murphy, Quality of Deer Management Association’s chief executive officer, “Some argue this is an innocent endeavor with no negative impacts to wild deer or the everyday deer hunter. I emphatically and unapologetically disagree… it threatens the health of wild deer and the public’s …show more content…

That question has been very intelligently addressed in Ted Kerasote 's book called Bloodties. He makes a big a point in his introduction to the book that as long as we hunt locally (so that we don 't burn fossil fuel getting to our quarry) and as long as we eat the victim, we do infinitely less harm to the overall environment than we do by eating ordinary supermarket vegetables. After all, the vegetables are grown by an energy-hungry agribusiness whose pesticides decimate the ecosystem and whose combines fatally batter hundreds of small animals (insects, toads, snakes, ground-nesting birds, mice, voles, woodchucks, striped squirrels, weasels, skunks, foxes) in the course of each harvest. But venison is in dramatic contrast to the vegetables resulting from that harvest, as well as to feed-dependent pork, beef, mutton, chicken and turkey. Unlike agricultural produce, venison requires no pesticide or fossil-fuel to grow, and results in the loss of just one life: the deer 's.9 Why don 't we all see this? Because to many of us, the little animals in the crops are vermin and the deer are Bambi, yet as Kerasote points out, life is precious to all creatures. This point that he makes shows us how deep this animal harm goes, people who are vegans probably do not think this deep. The land cleared for their food was once a home to animals. That same land is annually inhabited by other animals and every year they get killed or chased away by machinery. Kerasote hunts, probably very well. As a hunter he sounds more like an Inuit or a Bushman (or more like a wolf or a mountain lion, to name two other hunters of the deer) than like the camouflage-clad, beer-sodden macho types with automatic weapons who infest the woods each fall. And because he 's a hunter, Kerasote 's descriptions of hunts are realistic…

The bear hunt isn’t necessary, and some people may not believe this but it doesn’t change anything. Remember that nice juicy steak you had for dinner last night, well chances are that, that steak contained antibiotics that are the cause of many of the superbugs in the news lately. There is a lot of controversy around the use of antibiotics in livestock and the risks or benefits of using it, but for the most part the risks outweigh the benefits. Our large corporate ranch in northwestern Montana should not use antibiotics in our feed because most of it wouldn’t help the livestock anyway, antibiotics are already over used, and there is a growing market for antibiotic free meat.…

Factory -farming is not only irresponsible and in many ways a form of animal abuse, it’s also an existing danger to consumers buying animal products which aren’t properly taken care of or sanitized. For most American consumers today the concept of where there food really came from, or what kind of life an animal led before it was Sunday’s dinner doesn’t cross their mind. In the past, animal derived food products have been linked to but not restricted to such illnesses as diabetes, osteoporosis, heart disease, and even cancer. Due to the high demand for food production such as meat, poultry, dairy, and eggs, an animal’s quality of life has gone down dramatically in the past years. What does that mean? That means animals are being bred at a higher rate, pumped up with steroids, and being confined to smaller quarters.…

In American farms there are sad animals that are living only for produce, like chicken live to lay eggs or cows live to produce milk or get sliced for steaks. Those animals are held in closed building with very tight cages without option to even swing a wing or make a leg move. They live in very large groups and they are treated as object not living animals. Animals dye every day from overweight or disease; they are fed to grow fast, so they will get killed for produce. Right now an average living age for a street is up to sixteen months, they are fed on 25 pounds of corn every day (Kirby, D.,2010, March 2, Animal Factory), including antibiotics, so they will grow fast and get killed fast, so people will have something to eat. No one has an idea why steer’s diet contains antibiotics. I first thought that antibiotics are given to animals for growing purposes, but they are to reduce the swelling in the liver and in the stomach. The corn diet makes such a bad effects on steer’s health, it makes them carry extra weight and makes them very ill, but no one cares about it, because the steer is just there to produce good looking steaks.…
