The daily consumption of sugary beverages has been on a steady rise in the last couple of years. Consumers often times do not take into consideration what they consume and what effects it may have in the long run. Placing a tax on certain products will not deter consumers from purchasing the product. There are two way in which consumers may react to the sudden change. There are those consumers that will continue to buy the products regardless of the price change because they have slowly become attached to those products. There needs to be a uniform plan that includes regulations on fast food establishments and food and beverage companies that are producing the foods that we are all consuming. There also needs to be resources that people can seek out in order to make a healthy change. A simple tax on beverage is not enough to create a change. If the government truly wants to see a change there needs to be a uniform plan in order to target the problem areas. By focusing on only one specific sector, the government is not truly combating
