Just imagine if you would have excruciating pain and you could not move a particular part of your body. Most people that have Lou Gehrig’s or ALS only live two to five years after diagnosis.5 Studies have shown that most people that have ALS only live two to five years. We should not judge the people that have ALS or other diseases that can’t be cured. Motor neurons are so important you can’t live without them.10 The motor neurons in your brain send communication waves to tell your body when and where it needs to move. ALS harms the neurons so they do not work. It is unbelievably amazing to think how little neurons can kill you. ALS happens when body part does not get enough nourishment.1 When you don’t get enough nourishment in all parts of your body, the motor neurons start to disappear. Then that body part starts to twitch and become painful. Finally, you can’t move it at all. I think it is really hard to have this happen but it can happen really easily. The motor neurons are the cells that control your body.9 Motor neurons are part of the brain or the control center. When you want to move the brain or control center tells the body what to do. I think it is amazing how long people can live with this disease. All of our doctors know what ALS is, but there is no cure.
