Finally they give in and he starts to play at the age of twelve . He is a great natural athlete and everyone can see he has a bright future in sports. The final game before he is headed to high school, he gets hit in the head and neck area hard and is hospitalized. When he finally wakes up he cannot move his legs. This is awful because he believed in himself and others saw big things for him too. But sadly he is taking out before he could reach his full potential. To prevent this from ever happening there needs to be changes in the rules and equipment.

With advancements in science, the coaches and spectators are not as nervous to watch football games because serious injury is not as common. But more can be done! For instance making the facemask softer can help prevent injury because it will make players think twice before sticking their head in a big hit situation. In this case, fear of damaging the face is more of a risk then a big fine, which most players face after making an illegal hit. As science advances, it will give the players more confidence to step on the field.

For football to be considered a semi-safe sport changes to equipment and rules needs to be changed. With all of the fear players getting injured, they must be more protected and everyone must take responsibility. For this reason the science community must come out of their shells and help keep these athletes

Football is a full contact sport, so it is not supposed to be safe, and no one ever expected it to be safe. Recently the effects of countless head injuries endured by players many years ago had just started to surface. The NFL has started to attempt to make professional football as safe as they possibly can without ruining the game. The majority of the rules the NFL has in place are necessary when it comes to how the game is played and maintaining the safest environment on the football field for the players, however some of the other rules being added to the rulebook are arguably unnecessary and truthfully ridiculous. If the NFL is going to be safer they need to relinquish all of their information and research on player brain injuries. Some good things are being done to rule changes to make the game safer, but it is still not enough. There is a fine line however between changing rules and changing the game, which the NFL will have to navigate carefully. One of the better answers to these brain injuries is to improve the helmet protecting the head. Many developers have made ingenious new ideas to combat the concussion epidemic in football.
