Marijuana: To Be or Not To Be
In our progressive day and age, arguments are brought to light in favor of or in opposition to the legalization of marijuana. But many ask, “Why is marijuana considered illicit in the first place?” As a naturally occurring plant, the general notion that the use of marijuana should be up to the discretion of the user is propagated in many assemblies and councils for marijuana legislation reform. In order to acquire a greater understanding of the issue at hand, one must thoroughly understand all the aspects governing the health effects of marijuana on humans.
Primarily,
cannabis provides its users with a sense of ecstatic joyfulness, an increased sense of sensitivity, and a feeling of calmness and relaxation. Like any other drugs, marijuana affects the pathways of the nervous system as it halts the effective functioning of the neurotransmitters and receptors.
Moreover, cannabis alters the perception of sensation and pleasure, especially with regards to food and taste (“cannabis”). Regardless of the possible negative outcomes that this drug might

have, participants believe that prescribed cannabis is more beneficial to their health than prescribed medication (Bottorff 5). There is no reason for cannabis to be considered dangerous, since it affects humans in a safer way than its legal rivaldrug alcohol.
