Many studies have been done to show how much your genes play a role in your life. The obvious characteristics of individuals such as hair color, face shape, and eye color are all nature, because genetics determine those individual characteristics. Identical twins have been separated at birth to test how much an individual’s personalities are affected due to the nature aspect of …show more content…
nature vs nurture. I have three sisters; my twin Kortney, younger sister Brianna, and older sister Emily. We were all raised the same way and in the same household. My mother had all the same rule for us and never favored one of us over the other. Emily is only our half sister because we all share the same mother, but not father. She liked to do a variety of different activities than the rest of us. When we were younger we would all play outside, but Emily would always rather stay inside and do crafty projects. Emily is also the only one that didn’t continue onto college. Even though Kortney, Brianna, and I were nurtured in severely similar ways Emily has always demonstrated different characteristic from my two fully biological sisters and I. Of course, we all still have some similarities from being nurtured the same way, but more differences from which I believe is from nature.
Jim Lewis and Jim Springer are identical twins that have been raised in two different households, without any idea of being a twin.
When the twins were finally reunited, they discovered they had a lot in common with each other. Both twins suffered from intense headaches, nail biters, smoked Salem cigarettes, owned the same brand of vehicle and surprisingly vacationed at the exact same beach in Florida. ( www.cbsnews.com). Even when identical twins are separated at birth and have no concept that they are a twin, they still have remarkable amount of similarities, such as simple day-to-day activities. How else could that be explained than nature choosing who you are when being born?
In conclusion, nature has more of an effect on someone than nurture does. My sister Emily’s differences between me, Kortney, and Brianna have furthered my position on natures side of the disagreement between which one of nature vs nurture has a stronger effect on someone. Not only have I had personal experience, but the studies I have read were so extraordinary that I couldn’t possibly disagree with
nature.
