Persuasive Essay On Pitbulls
Imagine being the owner of the world’s happiest, friendliest, and most loving pit bull. The dog, which has been around since puppyhood, has been nothing but a joy to have and would never hurt anyone or anything. Now, imagine sitting on your couch one evening and hearing a loud noise. The police have just come crashing through the front door and they are here to take your beloved dog. Nothing can be done to stop them. Why is the dog being taken away? These pit bull terriers were originally created in England but were brought to America to be used as herding and guard dogs. They were said to have been great family dogs and were willing to protect their owners from anything …show more content…

They require just as much time as any other dog, so if you have that.…They can be good dogs.” Though they seem scary or aggressive, they can be just like other dogs with training. Despite this common opinion, an experiment was once performed. Fifty Pit Bulls were rescued from a fighting ring. Forty nine of the fifty dogs were rehabilitated. Some went to shelters such as Best Friends and many are well-loved family members today. The testing used to determine these dogs' ability to fit into society was exhaustive, extensive, and carefully carried out. Pit Bulls are different from other dogs and potential owners need to be made aware of the facts before considering rescuing or purchasing one. For example, a dog lover who has had Bichons all her life will be sorely surprised unless she does her homework and understand the bully breeds. Pits need a lot of structure, a very pronounced human alpha, training, exercise and lots of attention. The owner needs consistency, time, energy and quite possibly some…

They are quite loyal dogs. Pit bulls tend to make terrible guard dogs, they love people too much. However, this is not always a good thing. Pmarinc says “because pit bulls are so people-orientated they do not make good guard dogs. Unless you just want them to smother intruders with hugs and kisses.” Also, because pit bulls love their owners so much, they will do anything for them. Even if their owner is a criminal commit crimes. The myth that pit bulls are extremely vicious is false, pit bulls are only vicious if you raise them to be. Pit bulls have many different stories of where they came from. According to Jon Bastian, the pit bull originated in the 1000’s A.D. They started in Greece. Then eventually Britain took the dogs from Greece and started breeding them there in Britain. Finally, they ended up in Rome after they invaded Britain and took the dogs. Then, they started spreading around the world. Also from Jon Bastian, is the story that they came into existence in the 1400’s A.D. as boar hunters and sheep herders. Pit bulls and terrier breeds were created in early 19th century, for the popular spectator sports of bull- and bear-baiting. In 1898 the UKC, Britain's equivalent of the AKC, named these bull dogs the American Pit Bull Terrier. The AKC decided to recognize the breed in the early 1930s--but under a new name. Intending to separate it from its pit-fighting past, the AKC named it the American Staffordshire terrier, also known as a pit bull. These dogs have been used for protection not only in homes but in war, with the police and even with celebrities. Unfortunately, this same breed of dog now has a bad reputation, being called a vicious breed of dog and bully’s. I would have to disagree though, I believe that yes, there are some very mean pit bulls out there but there are also very nice and even famous ones. Not all pit bulls can be bad they aren’t born that way, they are raised that way. Saying a pit bull is born aggressive is kind of like saying a baby is born to hate.…
