Shockingly Justice Departments are allowing crime to happen, due to the fact that they trust police views of the case and declare them innocent, thus letting them go without any charges. This needs to stop and the only way for that to happen is issuing police officers body-cameras. Law enforcement should wear body cameras because it will reduce police brutality, gain back public trust, and treat disorderly cops according to their misconduct as well as reward well-trained officers.

A district attorney in Colorado, Peter Weir, claimed it is a necessity to gain or enhance public trust because it will lead to a better and safe society, also that body-worn cameras can lead towards that dream society (“Police Body Cameras”). A society without public trust for cops could lead to riots, possible anarchy, and disdain for police. Chaos and rioting did occur in several cities where body-cameras were not used, like in the Trevon martin case and in Ferguson. Body-cameras may have had an impact on those events since the court would have had the evidence to charge the actual people guilty, which in turn would gain public trust for officers. Also in the same study, according to the Rialto, California project, complaints about officers, who used body-cameras, dropped from 0.7 to 0.07 per 1,000 contacts with the public in this year-long study (Mohney). That is a huge drop in complaints, this is because the cops knew their actions were being recorded and were acting the proper way.
