“I can’t win. Prim must know that in her heart.” Upon reading these two sad sentences really makes some people think badly of Katniss Everdeen. If you think of Katniss as giving up already, you would be wrong. The character Katniss is strong and always tries to persevere though the Hunger Games which is people being pitted against each other. In The Hunger Games book by Suzanne Collins which is a great fiction book.That is exactly what I believe that you should never give up no matter what the challenge will be stay determined.
Do you think you would want to be pitted against other human being that are stronger than you. No, Good. However that is exactly what katniss faces in the hunger games. Much like the Roman Empire and the Coliseum, both of which had people fight to the death for entertainment. This give the spectators a feeling of winning and protection. Constantly reminding the districts had yet again survive but been punished. You also need to consider that Prim, Katniss’s sister was chosen and then Katniss stepped up to take her place. Who sacrificed herself by the Courage and shock that the odds were in Prims favor and doing that takes a lot of courage. This just shows how selfless and courageous Katniss and people in general can be. Keep in mind that in district 12 tribute is symbolism for corpse.
Most books have some use of symbolism in them and The Hunger Games is no different.Throughout the book There is a use of one main symbolism Being the Mockingjay Bird Pin (A Mockingjay Being A Breed of jabberjays and female mockingbirds.) Which symbolises Courage as when it appears it reminds Katniss that hope is not lost by giving her the courage she needs to continue on.
