Persuasive Essay: Why Marching Band Is A Sport
What is the definition of sport? Well here is what it is , it is “an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.” Marching band takes physical strength and mental strength. They have to march and carry instruments and flags but they also have to go through the blazing heat and the freezing cold. Marching band should be a sport because all the strength,Energy,time and commitment they participate and put in.
When in Marching band they have to have perfect technique and have to have strength and speed.“Along with the music memorization, these students condition themselves to march at high step (which is marching with your feet high at a 90-degree angle while having your feet pointed down) uphill, downhill and along jagged streets.” ( Libra academy) Marching band kids also have to walk in straight lines and make sure they …show more content…
One of the best competitive marching band shows is the World Championship Finals, publicized each year on ESPN (a sports channel), just like other sports. There are more than 400,000 fans at each live event. ( teen ink by Elizabeth R.) Many of sports go to competitions , such as Football , Swimming , Dance teams etc. Marching band also has many competitions as well. “ We got a one at state and also got to perform at OSU, also a NFL field” (Kaylie Phillips) She is from the Loveland High School Marching band and these are some of the places they have went to their competitions.”From schoolyard chants to Super Bowl championships, playful competition finds its way into nearly all aspects of culture.”(Psychology today) This shows that just like the superbowl or even normal football competitions marching band is just like that.
