Grace Chen claims that students that are involved with sports tend to have better attendance than those who do not, which makes sense. Sports motivate the students to go to school, it makes it seem like lessons aren’t as bad. If they’re getting something worthwhile out of it, then going to class at ungodly times only to be forced to obey every single order and being told that if they don’t, they will not be successful adults, seem worth it. "We know sports helps mold character and sharpens focus, as was proved in the Los Angeles study and shown in the Olympic results " says Marc Joseph. Sports help students mentally, too. It helps them gain important life skills that help them later in life. With those arguments, it only seems logical to many people to keep sports in schools. They have good reason, but they are overlooking one major detail. Other countries, such as South Korea and Japan, don’t have sports directly involved with their schools (NPR). This doesn’t stop students from playing, though. Many join organizations outside of schools. These countries that have these regulations are not lacking in their academic fields. In fact, many of the countries that do this are known to have the best education systems in the world (Amanda Ripley). If taking sports out of the education system caused significant issues, this would not be the case at
