According to the National Women’s Law Center there are over 23 million workers employed in low wage jobs. Women make up two-thirds of that number. In 2011 Connecticut women made up nearly 6 in 10 Connecticut workers who were paid minimum wage. 8Increasing t minimum wage would affect 125,000 women in Connecticut.8 The increased minimum wage would also narrow the wage gap for female workers.
