Our individual choices have an impact on the entire spaceship.
The spaceship had been designed with a great degree of durability but to continue a better standard of living, we have to avoid destruction of the spaceship's life support system by keeping the population and pollution down. There is a biosphere where plants are grown for food and carbon dioxide is exchanged for
oxygen. Conservation is a common practice on the spaceship. The story of the spaceship provides a metaphor for human environmental impact on the Earth. As with the spaceship, the Earth needs to daily recycle resources and live sustainable, this needs to be an awakening. Unlike the spaceship, Earth's populations continue to grow, the temperature continues to spike up, pollution is increasing and resources are consumed at an ever-increasing rate. Such problems with human's development cannot be solved with a simple operation. Changes in behaviour and the way we treat the environment must come through changes in the way we value nature and the resources it provides us. All of our actions here on Earth have impacts just like they would in a spaceship. Our actions on Earth should have the least impact on the environment and future. We need to take action and our voices need to be heard to out-weight those who deny that there is no such thing as climate change! Sincerely Yours, Alexandria Slaven
