Walking To Improve Health
Purpose: To persuade my audience to start walking in order to improve their health.
Introduction I. In today’s time we have it very easy because we have things like automatic dishwashers, riding lawnmowers, T.V. remotes, automatic garage door openers, power screwdrivers, remote controls for ceiling fans, and many more things. Well these things make us lazy and we don’t have to walk much and our health doesn’t be the way it should because we don’t do much exercising. Today I want to urge you to move off that couch and get you body moving. I want to persuade you to start walking.
A. Americans lead a horrible lifestyle at the expense of their health. B. Now there is a simple effective exercise that we can all do. C. We can visualize the benefits of walking by contrasting the lifestyle choices we have.
Body II. Americans lead a horrible lifestyle at the expense of their health. A. Adults watch too much TV a week, and don’t spend any time exercising. B. An article in the March, 1994 issue of Walking reports that there is evidence that our sedentary lifestyle is bad for our mental and emotional state of mind. C. Our eating habits and the lack of exercise is one of the second leading non-genetic contributors to death.
III. Now there is a simple effective exercise that we can all do. A. The exercise that we can all do in walking or even jogging. B. Regular walking can reduce our risk for heart disease and many other health issues a person may have.
IV. We can visualize the benefits of walking by contrasting the lifestyle choices we have. A. We can take shortcuts in life and cut our life short. 1. We can take shortcuts like finding the closest parking space so we don’t have to walk very far. B. We can also choose to lessen our risk for heart disease or any other kind of health problems and improving our mental health by making an effort to walk or
