Persuasive Speech On African American Students
Daron,

I hope this email finds you well. We met several years ago when we were both students at UT (I enrolled in 1998), and a year or two ago with Elizabeth Morgan as were crossed paths walking across campus. I am reaching out today because the Office of Admissions is unveiling new efforts to recruit Black students and I'm hoping you are available to assist with one of those efforts. Specifically, are you available to present a 1 hour mock lecture from 12-1pm on June 16 and/or 17 to 80 Black families of rising seniors (40 families per night)?

A few more details about the event: On June 15-17 we are hosting the Longhorn Summer Experience: An Invitation-only Event for African American Students. This program will exclusively target Black and African American rising seniors for an overnight experience (40 families June 15-16, and an additional 40 families June 16-17). Accommodations are sponsored by admissions in the AT&T Center. Students will engage in variety of intimate activities (the agenda I developed for them is attached).

I'll be full time in the admissions office in June but got pulled in a bit early given the importance of this program. When the admissions office included a mock lecture from 12-1 on June 16 (repeat for group 2 on June 17), I initially went to the course schedule to see who was teaching during the summer – I had no idea you taught a UGS course. When I mentioned to Dr. Leonard Moore that I thought you'd be a great addition to the program, he agreed and suggested I reach out to you. Please let me know if you are available to present a modified 1 hour lecture from your course to the group of talented students and there families. We would love to partner with you in this

The negroes are the shoes on which our beloved United States stands, and our country will not crumble into the dirt just because some “humanitarians” want to do the “right” thing. You twisted abolitionists claim that slaveholders have no morals, yet you pigeon-livered “freedom fighters” stand on the backs of slaves everyday. How do you think you got the clothes on your back? In fact, 82% of all cotton that y’all need to make clothes, comes from southern plantations.…

Around the world today a lot has been going on with African American male’s lives being taking. It’s getting to the point where I have to think. Will African American males be able to walk down the street or go somewhere without someone having to go with them. They shouldn’t have to live their lives like this. Each and every one might do wrong in a time in their lives but you can’t hold that against them. Everyone make mistake in their life time. These are people children that are being taking away from their home, family, and friends. We have to put an end to it. You may not care because it might not be someone from your family. Stop and think about if it was. How would you feel then? Black lives matter, all live matter.…

“Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it,” George Santayana.(Brainy Quote) This means, regarding this research, that if African Americans do not remember the past, past achievements and accomplishments, past trials and tribulations, then history is bound to repeat itself. The purpose of this research is to persuade the audience that an African American studies class should be required by all states for high school students to graduate. African Americans are at a disadvantage in terms of education, because the school system does not require those students to be enrolled in an African-American studies course to graduate high school. Therefore those students are forced to learn about "white" America and know little about "black" America.…

America is most known to be the “nation of immigrant.” The nation that accepts foreigners and helps them pursue an American Dream. It helps you all together make someone out of yourself by providing opportunities to make that dream a reality. Although this may be true, the nation that gives you a label a label that makes you feel completely uncomfortable. PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as the military combat, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, or any major tragedy. This is common in the life of veterans and is the leading cause of suicide among veterans. A VA patient who survived in Baghdad shares his experience with PTSD and explains how he knew he had this disability. Many veterans speak out about this issue and describe their continuous anger, alcohol addiction, and constantly wanted to fight. They usually feel very isolated and distant from their loved ones. One patient states, “PTSD involves rocketing into extreme states of stress re-activity; in the form of terror, rage, and uncontrollable impulses, and plunging into equally extreme states of being shut-down—exhaustion, emotional numbing, despair, and dissociation”. PTSD is about having fear and anxiety, allowing veterans to rage with anger and different emotion. There are many factors to PTSD, which affects others in different ways; or example, using video games to keep them occupied, spending money due to the lack of impulse control because of changes in their brain, and even not obtaining another job.…

I hope you are having a great and productive start to this academic school year. I am Winter-Noelle Grant, a native from Shreveport, Louisiana and a sophomore biology major at the university. I served as the 2014-2015 Miss Freshman along with other leadership and organizational capacities on campus. I am addressing this email to you because I have strong concerns about my outstanding financial obligations to the university due to the lack of effective communication. This summer, I was notified that my Emerging Leaders scholarship would not be renewed for the 2015-2016 academic school year because of failure of obtaining the academic requirements. In order to be renewed the scholarship, a 2.8 grade point average must have been obtained. Unfortunately, I received a 2.6 grade point average at the end of spring semester.…
