I hope this email finds you well. We met several years ago when we were both students at UT (I enrolled in 1998), and a year or two ago with Elizabeth Morgan as were crossed paths walking across campus. I am reaching out today because the Office of Admissions is unveiling new efforts to recruit Black students and I'm hoping you are available to assist with one of those efforts. Specifically, are you available to present a 1 hour mock lecture from 12-1pm on June 16 and/or 17 to 80 Black families of rising seniors (40 families per night)?
A few more details about the event: On June 15-17 we are hosting the Longhorn Summer Experience: An Invitation-only Event for African American Students. This program will exclusively target Black and African American rising seniors for an overnight experience (40 families June 15-16, and an additional 40 families June 16-17). Accommodations are sponsored by admissions in the AT&T Center. Students will engage in variety of intimate activities (the agenda I developed for them is attached). …show more content…
I'll be full time in the admissions office in June but got pulled in a bit early given the importance of this program. When the admissions office included a mock lecture from 12-1 on June 16 (repeat for group 2 on June 17), I initially went to the course schedule to see who was teaching during the summer – I had no idea you taught a UGS course. When I mentioned to Dr. Leonard Moore that I thought you'd be a great addition to the program, he agreed and suggested I reach out to you. Please let me know if you are available to present a modified 1 hour lecture from your course to the group of talented students and there families. We would love to partner with you in this
