Weeds grow and germinate rapidly and as a result they compete with native plants for nutrients, sunlight and space. This relates to the survival of native animals because weeds smothers native plants and these plants provide shelter, food and other resources to the animals. Furthermore, pollution and litter caused by humans also pose a serious threat to the plants and animals. From my experience, the Georges River in Carramar has plastic bags and bottles which compete with the aquatic animals such as ducks for space. Also, the animals perceive it as food and consume them; this is very harmful as it could lead to the death of that
