Persuasive Speech: The Black Lives Matter Movement
Good morning Ms.Agase, Ms.Moriarty,and fellow classmates, thank you for taking the time to listen to my speech. Many of you have heard the phrase,”Justice for Trayvon” or, “I can’t breathe.” One of the first things that might come to mind is the Black Lives Matter Movement.Today I am here today to talk about why Black Lives Matter.According to Racial Profiling,”In Maryland, for example, a study revealed that seventy percent of those stopped and searched on a stretch of I–95 were African American—despite the fact that they represented only seventeen percent of drivers on the road.” I support the Black Lives Matter Movement, because I believe that everyone should be treated equally, and I have African-American friends and relatives that have

“#BlackLivesMatter is a call to action and a response to the violent anti-Black racism that permeates our society(Garza 1). There are many people that do not agree with this movement and have thus created their own movement, “All Lives Matter”. “Often people who say “all lives matter” say it pointedly, correctively under the veneer of the idea that “all men are created equal”. It is meant to refute the idea that “only” black lives matter(Bry 2).” I believe that people that support the All Lives Matter Movement use this phrase as an effort to diminish the cause of racial profiling.
