PESTLE ANALYSIS OF DISNEYLAND PARIS

Political

The French labour law dictates that a person should work for 35 hours a week but may not exceed 48 hours a week. Overtime has to be paid for the first-eight hours and is worth 25% of their base hourly wage and after that its worth 50%. Concluding that in theory Disneyland Paris would have to employ two employees for one position to be efficient and not to break any labour laws.

Economical

France encountered 5 different recessions between 2008 and 2014, the most recent one was at the end of 2013, which explains the decrease in revenue. Recession leads to lower consumer confidence, people will spend less on luxury goods and services such as Disneyland Paris. This is displayed on the 2013-2014 annual report which shows a 6% decline in revenue.

Social

Being the most visited tourist site in whole of Europe and with a visitor count of 14,9 million in 2013. Disneyland Paris has transformed itself into the French cultural landscape. They are also providing the local community with 55000 jobs.

Technological

The internet has a massive impact on how Disney can market itself and it allows them to advertise to their target market and sell tickets online. By offering exclusive online discounts it is now the biggest source of ticket sales for Disney. Social networking is another way they advertise because it can be directed to the specific target market.

Legal

The French government passed a law “(LOI n° 2008-1369)” that allows theme parks to implement their own safety systems but still have to submit their results to an authorized governmental or independent body for inspection, therefore Disneyland Paris has constructed its own Safety Management System that processes information for managing safety.

Environmental

To avoid being scrutinized by environmental pressure groups, Disneyland Paris is very centered on being environmentally friendly with everything they do. An example of this is the financial incentive they give to their employees to use public transport and reduce fuel emissions. French legislation states that a company must refund 50% of employee transport fees, whereas Disneyland Paris refunds 80%.

First, Euro Disney’s poor performance due to the management lacked on understanding of the cultural difference between two nations. Disney goes (very deep) into the American consciousness, its themes were chosen to appeal to a wide variety of American interests and tastes, its parks were filled with images of American culture, and its cartoon characters had become staples of the American youth experience. In conclusion, Disney is too "Americanized." Although Euro Disney did some work to adapt, it is not good enough to convince consumers. After all, since Paris is the culture capital of Europe, French think their culture being deserved more respect.…

Centre Parcs are one of the UKs leading family, self-catering holiday destinations. This report aims to analyse the company using one of the key tools available to guide strategic decision making – A PESTLE Analysis. A good way for companies to establish where they are leading or failing in the competitive market is to perform a PESTLE Analysis’ on themselves. It allows companies to asses a whole list of different factor’s that incorporate every aspect of the company from political, to environmental features. This is certainly the case with Centre Parc’s, as Centre Parc’s has many different ‘villages’ all over the United Kingdom, they need to carry out the analysis on all parks, as each one has set standards and expectations of the customers, whether it be the style of accommodation to the extent of the facilities that it has.…

To begin with, in the year 1928, Walt Disney gave birth to an unforgettable character with huge black ears, memorable red shorts, and giant white-gloved hands – Mickey Mouse (Robertson, 2008). Mickey is a character people can immediately identify that has invaded our television screens for the past 80 years. Mickey has become one of the most recognizable symbols in the world, thanks to Walt Disney’s branding strategies (Suddath, 2008). Like most companies, Disney uses a variety of integrated marketing communication strategies - radio, television, outdoor media, direct mail as well as online advertising and promotions. In order to maintain the magic and fantasy behind the Disney brand, the company believes that direct marketing is essential to maintain a dialogue between themselves and potential customers (Robertson, 2008). Disney has three essential “pillars” it focuses on to build its branding strategy. “One, to invest in…

Euro Disney S.C.A is a French public company that owns the well-known Euro Disneyland Paris. I have chosen to study this company because it was the subject of many controversies .The French society considers that by encouraging the American brand ``Walt Disney`` will unfortunately lead to `cultural imperialism`. French media and labor unions mounted protests against ``Walt Disney`` because the American managers tried to enforce specific rules without taking into consideration cultural differences. A journalist in the French newspaper ``Le Figaro`` wrote, “I wish with all my heart that the rebels would set fire to Euro Disneyland."[i] It is not easy at all to import a brand especially when USA and France have different cultural and economical backgrounds, codes, regulations and laws. I find it challenging to understand how Euro Disney S.C.A succeeded to pursue its goal and what assurances they gave to its stakeholders as the environment becomes more and more volatile.…

My six year old self was wearing a pink velvet hello kitty long sleeve shirt and jeans that had embroidered sparkles and butterfly designs. Obviously I was dressed to impress. After visiting with my parents for a couple weeks I was about to spend my first night with my new family. My mom is a petite Asian women but despite her small frame she is exerts confidence and has a Type A personality while my dad is a big white guy who is kind and is perfect for my mom because he is Type B personality. Upon meeting them I knew they were perfect for me because I coincidentally looked like my mom and had her stuberness but had my dad's soft side. I already had the night planned in my head, I would go and play then eat a delicious dinner and then convince my parents to watch The Little Mermaid before I had to go to bed. When I got to my new home I rushed to play doctor with the chocolate labs who would soon become my best friends. I was later called to dinner and that's where my vision of the perfect first night crashed and burned. On my plate was a grotesque pile of salad taking up at least a third of my plate. This was not acceptable in my book. I proceeded to give every excuse to not eat The Salad.…
