Pet Grooming and Wellness Facilities
CHAPTER I
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

This chapter is focused on the problem and background of the study which includes the objectives, significance, scope and limitations. This part will define the general information of the whole study. The researchers agreed to talk about proper waste segregation in pet grooming and wellness facilities. Since its becoming a trend to pet owners to have their pets groomed by reputable groomers.
Introduction
Pet Grooming and Wellness Facilities offers a wide range of services for dogs and for their owner’s satisfaction. The facility offers dog bathing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, anal gland cleaning, fur trimming, toothbrush and pet massage. In every business establishment waste is always present. In many cases, their waste goes to sanitary sewer that can negatively affect the environment. It is important to know how they segregate and dispose their wastes.
Background of the Study This paper focuses on proper waste segregation of dog grooming and wellness facilities which deals with the procedures and improvements to be applied for proper treatment of waste. It will take good effect on the environment and human health as waste contributes to pollution.
Every dog requires some degree of grooming. For shorthaired breeds, grooming is relatively simple: regular nail trimming, ear cleaning, and brushing (of the teeth and the fur or hair), accompanied by an occasional bath. Doublecoated breeds like German shepherds require more frequent brushing, as do drop-coated and curly-coated breeds, like Maltese and poodles, respectively. Many breeds require regular trimming to keep them looking and feeling their best. Understanding the grooming requirements of your dog is an important part of responsible dog ownership. Grooming is an important part of dog care. All Breeds require daily grooming, how much depends on the breed, age, or health of the pet. Regular grooming helps to ensure the dog is healthy and comfortable. It is important to note that while many dogs shed, others, do not shed as profusely, and require grooming by a professional every 6–8 weeks maximum.
The main reasons for daily grooming include: decreased chance of various health problems, such as thrush, scratches, and other skin problems general cleanliness of the dog monitoring of the dog's health by checking for cuts, heat, swelling, lameness, or changes in temperament, all of which could be indicative of illness forging of a closer bond between dog and owner reducing infestation load of external parasites on skin.
Many reference materials attest to man's fondness of pets, but no books trace the origins of pet grooming. However, there are occasional references that shed light on the art of pet grooming. Ferdinand Mery, authored The Dog (London, 1970). In it, he established that dogs were first perceived as useful to man as early as 4240 B.C. Mery mentions unusual religious totems with dogs depicted in their sculpture. As centuries passed the dog eventually became commonly accepted as a pet and is now considered "man's best friend. This study will discuss about proper waste segregation in grooming and wellness facilities.
Objectives of the Study
General Objective
The study aimed to propose a proper waste segregation in pet grooming and wellness facilities.
Specific Objective
To identify the effects of improper waste segregation/disposal in the environment.
How it can affect us humans.
To propose a proper waste segregation scheme.
Significance of the Study The researchers aim at discussing essential issue's as to what the researchers believe. As well in regards to the study of the improper waste segregation. The research is intended to study and explain the effects of improper waste segregation and for the people's awareness on how to avoid such problems with regards to waste segregation.
To the researchers- This study will help to partially fulfill the requirements in Environmental Engineering and to be more aware about the importance of waste segregation in our environment, to be able to used this study as one of the things to consider when were already in the industry.
To the future researchers- This study can be a reference for future researchers to know more about waste segregation.
To the students – The study gives them a view of what Environmental Engineering is. It is a view of how waste can be treated properly.
To the instructors – The study gives ideas and knowledge on how the researchers use the application of Environmental Engineering to the benefit of the community and the industry.
To TIP Community – The study gives necessary information about what is going on outside the school and to appreciate how this research works to improve and develop something beneficial to the whole community and the environment.
Scope and Limitations of the Study
Scope
The main range of the study is to propose a process that will overcome the elimination of waste.
In this study the proponents will gather and conduct the research in a pet grooming and wellness facility.
Limitations
The study will be restricted only in the waste segregation.
There will be no mathematical approach as the proponent will only provide descriptive processes.

CHAPTER 2
CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
This chapter focuses on the theoretical construction of the study which includes the research paradigm that compromises the study, and the definition of terms which were defined operationally.

This diagram illustrate how pet grooming and wellness facilities should segregate their waste in order to lower emissions and ecological & environmental problems thru sorting their waste to make sure that the right thing goes to the right place, straighten ,shine, standardize and sustain their waste segregation. It enables more of the waste to be recycled, which reduces the drain on resources and energy when needed.
Definition of Terms
1. Biodegradable – It is a type of waste which can be broken down, in a reasonable amount of time, into its base compounds.
2. Chemicals – a compound or substance that has been purified or prepared.
3. Dry waste – It is the sorting of certain materials of different elements. Ex. Wood, metals and glass
4. Environment – It is the surrounding or conditions in which a person, plant or animal lives or operates.
5. Facilities – An amenity or resource
6. Grooming – It is the thing people do to keep themselves and animals clean.
7. Human Health – It is the general condition of a person in all aspects. It is also a level of functional and/or metabolic efficiency of an organism.
8. Non-Biodegradable – It is the term use to refer to components that can’t be decomposed by biological means.
9. Pollution – The presence in or introduction into the environment of a substance or thing that has harmful or poisonous effects.
10. Waste Segregation – This means the dividing of dry and wet waste.
11. Wet Waste – It typically refers to organic waste usually generated by eating establishments and heavy in weight due to dampness.

CHAPTER 3

METHODOLOGY

This chapter focuses on the methods that were used by the researchers all throughout the study which comprises of the project design.

Project Design

CHAPTER 4

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION
This chapter aims at how the researchers gathered data to obtain the objectives of the study.

Kerbside collection is today often referred to as a strategy of local authorities to collect recyclable items from the consumer. Kerbside collection is considered a low-risk strategy to reduce waste volumes and increase recycling rates. Materials are typically collected in large bins, coloured bags, or small open plastic tubs, specifically designated for content.
Recyclable materials that may be separately collected from municipal waste include:
Biodegradable waste component
• Green waste
• Kitchen waste
Recyclable materials
• Office paper
• Newsprint
• Paperboard
• Corrugated fiberboard
• Plastics (#1 PET, #2 HDPE natural and colored, #3 PVC narrow-necked containers, #4 LDPE, #5 PP, #7 other mixed resin plastics)
• Glass
• Metals (ferrous and non-ferrous)
• Co-mingled recyclables- can be sorted by a clean materials recovery facility
Kerbside collection of recyclable resources is aimed to recover purer waste streams with higher market value than by other collection methods. If the household incorrectly separates the recyclable elements, the load may have to be put to landfill if it is deemed to be contaminated.
Kerbside collection and household recycling schemes are also being used as tools by local authorities to increase the public's awareness of their waste production.
Kerbside collection is commonly considered to be completely environmentally friendly. This may not necessarily be the case as it leads to an increased number of waste collection vehicles on the road, in themselves contributing to global warming through exhaust emissions[citation needed] until the time of their conversion to clean energy.
New and emerging waste treatment technologies such as mechanical biological treatment may offer an alternative to kerbside collection through automated separation of waste in recycling factories.

CHAPTER 5

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter comprises the summary of the conducted research, the conclusions of the researchers and their recommendations that they will endorse.

Summary of Findings
The following are the summary of findings obtains through the gathered data:
During the research, the researchers found out that the facility is not managing its waste segregation. The wastes are not properly segregated by most pet grooming and wellness facility. The researchers talked and agreed to propose the proper waste segregation that the researchers thought of.
Conclusion
Therefore the researchers conclude that not most pet grooming and wellness facilities have proper waste segregation. The researcher main objective is to ensure that waste segregation is implemented and followed to prevent pollution and health issues that can arise from improper waste segregation. In order to meet the objectives of this study, we finally made some proposal to finally lessen the waste in every pet grooming and wellness facilities. We hope that this can be helpful for all and it can promote campaign for our environment.
Recommendation
The researchers highly recommend to properly segregating waste not just in pet grooming and wellness facilities but most importantly we should start segregating at home to be used to it and apply it everywhere we go and in whatever facility. To lower ecological and environmental 4problems and prevent future catastrophe due to waste.
