Petala Indera Perflow Case Study
6.1 INTRODUCTION
In this chapter covered types of software and techniques that were used to produces 3D Replication of petala Indera Perahu. The object only focused on head part of boat due of lacking lighting, distances, and spacing. The software that be used was Autodesk 123D Catch, Silo 2, Netfabb that affordable to used. Using 3D printer can give least physical contacts on object that suitable for conservator for replicated the artifacts. This chapter also covered the process making of head part Petala Indera Perahu.

6.2 SOFTWARE 3D VISUAL
6.2.1 Autodesk 123D Catch
123D Catch also functional as 3D scanning used a series of photographs which is a new application and service from Autodesk (Gpvillamil, 2013). In figure 6.1 illustrated photographs

The software cannot read or identified detailed model if it contents shadow. The picture also need taking on suitable distance, such as in figure 6.4 illustrated the largest object like house need suitable distance for taking picture that catch whole building. The software only read and identified several part of object only, for example in red circle showed the software cannot read the model part in others terms it is missing part of model. The software also only reads and needed one sources of pictures (phone camera/DSLR), even the picture illustrated the some object. Moreover, the software needed 100% connected to internet which is for software jointed the whole picture into 3D model. Figure 6.4 Building model used 123D Catch

6.2.2 Silo 2
Nevercenter (2007) stated that Silo 2 was focused 3D modelling application with the capability to smoothly switch between organically sculpting high-polygon models and precisely controlling hard-edged surfaces. It can be used for creating 3D characters for video games and movies and to quickly exploring 3D architectural ideas. In figure 6.5 illustrated Silo which is multi-software 3D graphics workflow that available for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. Figure 6.5 Silo 2 software

Examples of manifold errors are surfaces that do not connect, or gaps in the models. Examples of software that can be used to fix these errors are netfabb and Meshmixer, or even Cura, or Slic3r. (wiki, 2015) Figure 6.7 Netfabb Basic Software

6.3 PROCESS MAKING 3D PRINTER
Process of making 3D printer was begun with taking picture of the Petala Indera Perahu at Department of Museums Malaysia. The pictures were taking 360 degrees angles of the artefact and it only focusing on head part of artefacts only due of lacking spacing, distances, and lighting. The pictures were shoot used iPad mini. In figure 6.8 demonstrated pictures that be capture. Figure 6.8 Pictures of Petala Indera Perahu

The picture was arranged using numbers for easier 123D Catch to read the pictures. After 123D Catch reading and identified from 2D picture and it convert to 3D modelling which is illustrated in figure 6.9. In red circle showed the software cannot read the object

The 3-D technology can be defined as the printing of physical 3-D objects from a digital data. The first 3-D commercial printer was invented by Charles Hull in 1984. However, it wasn’t until 1986 that the first 3-D machine, called stereolithography apparatus and a technique called a stereolithography was patented and used. This technique relied on a laser to harden an ultraviolet-sensitive polymer material wherever the ultraviolet laser touched it (The Tower Price Connections). As with all new items on the market, the first 3-D machine was imperfect at first, however it also proved that vastly complex parts can be manufactured overnight. In the next twenty years, the use of 3-D printing boomed.…

New technologically advanced 3D computer reconstructions allow the viewer to see real images of the crime scene much like watching a television show. The virtual world can be created using 3D lasers and computer software. The crime scene is taking on a completely different view. No longer is the crime scene restricted to inside of the crime tape. It has moved beyond a physical barrier allowing analysts to dissect the crime scene to identify evidence often missed simply walking through the traditional steps of sketching. There is now the opportunity for anyone to revisit the crime scene the next day, next week, or years from now. This is an important function to allow the jury to see exactly what the investigators and witnesses saw at the crime scene leaving nothing to the juror’s imagination.…

Abstract. This work shows the development of the design and manufacturing of a very small engine, namely its head. The engine works under the 4-stroke cycle, therefore having a very complex cylinder head, housing the camshaft, valves and its auxiliaries (seats, guides, springs), spark plug, inlet and exhaust passages and a coolant chamber. The geometries, both inner and outer are highly intricate which makes the production of such a part a very difficult job. In addition, when the engine is very small, as it is the case of this engine, all dimensions are miniaturized therefore making it extremely difficult to design, cast and finish. The cooling chamber, in particular, has a critical inner core removal problem due to reduced accessibility, imposing casting limitations. The cores place also a problem of air and gas removal during metal filling and solidification. Rapid prototyping may be the only solution to build the cores, and may help in the design and manufacturing phases of the casting tools. 3D printing with a plaster based material as a rapid prototyping technique presents…
