I do not agree that his argument stands because it includes the principle that we should take no account of proximity or distance before we decide whether to provide aid to others and prevent something bad from happening. Although with a “global village”, our moral situation may be different as aid can now be more effectively distributed over distance, it does not mean that we are morally obligated to prevent bad things from happening without taking into account distance and proximity.
