Petticoat Research Paper
I have been going to Lumina resort my entire life. Even though my teenage years, where it seemed nothing could entertain my adolescent attitude, I looked forward to vacationing on the lake of bays every summer.
As a child, I recall Petticoat. For a few hours every day my parents got a break to do as they pleased, as my sisters and I made crafts, learned songs, played games, and heard stories. It was also a great way to make friends with other children visiting the resort. Lumina always has great Petticoat leaders. The children just adore them; always sitting on their laps, waving at them in the dining room, or dragging along their ankles when the week is over and it’s time for goodbyes!
Returning as a teenager never seemed like a lame family holiday. With all the returning friends I had made in years previous, the activities and fun seemed endless. Tubing became a sport to us. Lounging in the sun never seemed so relaxing – with the waves licking the shores and the breeze coming off the bay. I learned how to wakeboard at Lumina; the staff spent countless years helping me stand up on the wake, and never grew tired of my mistakes. Movies in the TV room, playing cards on the deck, eating junk food in the beautifully preserved cabins. All great memories.

The lake of bays club always promises something fun. Wine and Cheese night starts everyone off at the beginning of the week to meet new guests and reconcile with old friends. Poker, pool, and darts allow for good fun with fellow vacation-goers. Live entertainment is my family’s personal favourite. Tobin – the artist that has been recruited for the past few years – is amazing, and keeps the audience dancing, drinking, and having fun. Karaoke night is the night to let loose and show all your new and old friends your talent. Of course, the beach, water activities, sports, tournaments, and excursions are just as much fun in adulthood as they were in

One of the Trends of the Royal Caribbean is entertainment. This cruise offers many different types of attractions and shows. As shown on the cruises page, if you go to Things To Do, this option gives you more options to choose from. From getting active to just stores, and things to make you smile. A few activities that caught my eye were under the Get Active, has Rock Climbing, under The Spa you can get facials to massages, and clicking on the Shop tab. You can see top designer stores to art…

This is such a nice anchorage for so many reasons, not the least of which is the beautiful water. The lake has a sandy bottom, instead of mud and it feels great on the toes. There’s also a narrow ocean inlet about half a mile out one corner of the lake, so there is ample ocean water flooding in, but it’s far enough away, and around a curve, so it doesn’t bring the wave action rushing past.…

There are two vacation spots I frequently visited in my youth that hold special memories for me. The two places are Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. When I was very young and lived in South Florida, my family would make our yearly two-week vacation to our home in Boone, NC. Each year, this trip included a visit to Gatlinburg. I hold very special memories of these trips and still love to visit the Gatlinburg area. When I moved to North Carolina in my late teens, Myrtle Beach was the vacation and summer break spot. Even on my first visit to Myrtle Beach, although very different, it instantly reminded me of my trips to Gatlinburg as a child. Although both places are very different, in many ways they are very much the same. After going from the vacationing child, to the paying adult, I realized more and more how both places appeal to the same vacationer. I also realized that forms of entertainment were either the same or comparable. Myrtle Beach and Gatlinburg compliment and differ in many ways, and a few of those examples are stage entertainment, restaurants, and scenic vacation experiences. Both vacation spots have tons of entertainment. Sometimes the problem with family vacation spots is not what are we going to do, but how are we going to do it all In Myrtle Beach, some of my favorite entertainment activities are Big Laughs Theatre Wild 4 Hypnosis Comedy Show. Located in Surfside Beach, SC, this show is a belly-laughing good time. This show consists of audience members being hypnotized and doing funny things they do not remember. The show is great for all ages, which makes it a family favorite. Another fun entertaining place in Myrtle Beach is The Carolina Opry. The Carolina Opry is the only show named, Top Attraction in Myrtle Beach by CNN, New York Times, and USA Today, just to name a few. Shows at this location would include, Light, a laser light show to music such as The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin, Good…

This trip wasn’t like the others, it was a vacation compared to the other high adventure camps. We flew down to Miami and drove to the base, which was in the Florida Keys. The next day we took two warrior canoes, which were canoes the fit about seven people in each, and paddled five miles out to and island where we would stay for the next six days. Instead of hiking or climbing mountains, our trip consisted of tenting out on an island where we fished, snorkeled and kayaked for the next week. My favorite part about this trip was relaxing in a hammock for hours watching the tides change. This was a dramatic change from my two previous summers of hard labor and exhausting hiking and canoeing; but it taught me that hard work pays…

Have you ever heard of the famous Great Wolf Lodge indoor water park? Last September, Tommy and I took the kids there for the weekend and had an amazing time. We had a great time because the whole place was very family-friendly. There was more than enough activities to keep the whole family excited and busy the entire weekend. The most exciting and enjoyable place that I have ever visited was the Great Wolf Lodge in Charlotte, North Carolina. There was a huge indoor water park with great food, arcades, bowling alleys and lots of other activities for us to enjoy.…

The best trip I have ever went on was when my family and I went to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. My aunt was getting married and my mom’s side of the family was invited to come. We got to go on this vacation last February. We left very early one morning and we went to the airport. It was very cold and the air was very dry. We got to the airport in Sioux Falls and we went through security and waited to get on the plane. Once we finally got on the plane I was very excited to get there. We had a connection in Minneapolis and we had a direct flight from Minneapolis all the way to Punta Cana. Once we finally got to Punta Cana, we were getting off the plane and I could feel the humid, warm air. We had to wait in a very long line to go through customs. After that, we got on a taxi that took us to our resort. The roads in the Dominican Republic are not much different from the roads in the U.S. They still had stop lights, billboards, and the same traffic rules. One big difference we saw on the way to the…

Punta Cana is an unforgettable place to have a wonderful vacation. First, the Punta Cana’s locals could be the friendliest people of the world. At the hotel, they are always greeting you in a personal way, like Good Morning Mr. Aldana and keeping you wondering how the majority of them can remember your name. They have a big smile for you anytime; no matter if it is very early in the morning while you are running at the beach or if it is past midnight when you are returning to your room. The people that you meet outside the resort are very hospitable and ready to help you in whatever you need; to buy something special where the locals do their shopping or a tour guide taking you to know the city. Second, the fresh smell of the flowers and happy ambience at the resort are unique. Upon arriving at the hotel, you can feel the happiness and hear the contagious music, like bachata and merengue. After the check-in they take you to a nice room where you can smell the fresh flowers and enjoy the beautiful ocean sight. The food at the different hotel restaurants is delicious, under the “all inclusive” plan you can taste and enjoy a great variety of food, so you can drink and eat whatever you want anytime. The hotel offers you a variety of activities at night. You can take a dance class with the hotel’s staff, you can shake your body at the disco place or you can meet other people at the bar and share experiences. Third, the beaches are wonderful and unforgettable. The clean-white-sand at the beaches and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea invites you to throw on your swimsuit, grab a beach chair and take a very hot sunbath. They offer many activities at the beaches, like snorkeling, surfing, fishing or scuba-diving. It is up to you how energized you feel to take one or more activities. The one day boat trip to the Isla Saona where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean is worth your money, it is a paradisiacal place where you can shoot a beautiful…

My most cherished memory while in Florida was of course, the spectacular beach. Come on, who doesn't love a Florida beach? With this being my very first time ever in the ocean, it was absolutely breathtaking. The warm, salty air surrounding me. Ocean water glazing over my feet for the very first time. The warm, white sandy beach I dug my toes into. The hot sun beating down on my skin. Leaving me with a feeling of complete paradise. My senses were overwhelmed with happiness, oh what a memorable feeling!…

In florida I got to get close with people I would never have met if my parent had not let me go on this once in a lifetime opportunity trip. In florida we spent every day every minute every second doing something. Whether it swimming, shopping, or all five teenagers sleeping together. The first couple of days we spent every waking moment of the sun swimming in a resort. We also went to a local Florida amusement park. The best part of the amusement park was not the rides or that I can in second in gokarting but that everyone who went was wearing White Chuck Taylors. I unfortunately missed Mason's third birthday but I made it up with going on a helicopter ride with Manny and his cousin Willie. That same day we went to Hooters and the Sugar Factory for our first time. The day was one to never forget. Our last three days we did not take our eyes off the TV because we were having Horror Movie Marathon. The couch was…

    Types of Vacations

Another very popular vacation destination is theme parks. Places like Disney World, Dollywood, Six Flags, Universal Studios and Sea World offer big doses of high energy family fun. Theme parks are most popular amongst families with small children. There are plenty of activities geared directly toward holding children’s interests. There is also something magical about theme parks that draws in adults. The sights, the sounds, but mostly the way they make them feel. They remind them of simpler times, like when they were children and didn’t have a care in the world. The benefit to these vacations is that they require very little planning. The only thing you have to plan is how to get there. Once you arrive at the theme…
