Pharm School Personal Statement
Healing the sick is the focal point of my life. I believe that the power of medicine will help me achieve my goals. It was through both the advice and stories from many influential people in my life that have led me to pursue a career as a pharmacist. I am independent, responsible, determined, and motivated. My personal interactions with patients made me realize that I also feel the patients' pain when they're hurting. I love to do research, see the patients and give them needed medications, see them get well and be healthy. There is popular quote for pharmacist, “an honest pharmacist is a clement mother;” words that I keep in mind, and together with the medical knowledge I'll learn, will guide me in my quest to becoming a great pharmacist. There are many challenges that ahead in this pursuit, but I would have put my heart into this goal, therefore, I am ready for any struggle to achieve this lifelong dream.
My family also fueled my inspiration to pursue medicine. In my early childhood, my grandma contracted systemic lupus erythematosus, which, at that time, had no cure. I still remember taking care of her every day after school – it was heart – wrenching, and I often tear up whenever I saw her suffer. To this day, one of my most vivid memories of her was the moment I saw her feeding through a tube connected through her nose; she struggles to breathe is forever etched on my mind. I wish was able to do something to keep her with me. After systemic lupus erythematosus took my grandma away forever, I found my purpose in life: to become a pharmacist.
After completed Medical Assisting program at Carrington College California, I continued my educational that enrolled to Grand Canyon University with major in biology with an Emphasis in Pre Medicine. I love science major and doing researches. I completed all of my hard work in biology, physics, inorganic chemistry, math, and other science classes. Especially, I'm proud about my hundred percents on American Chemical

I had seen the adverse effects of ill advised decisions, and I take a certain amount of pride in knowing that I set a good example of a pharmacist who stands true for the code of ethics. I later worked at a retail pharmacy. The combination of professional education and personality had enabled me to tirelessly carry out my daily job, but it really was my love of helping patients that keeps me going despite many unexpected…

I will continue to create inter-professional healthcare environment once I graduate. I will make sure to provide any recommendation, which I feel is appropriate for the wellness of the patient. I will make sure to provide positive feedback to the team if I am a member of P&T committee at the hospital. For example, if I am in P&T committee at the hospital I will make sure to consider physicians, nurses and other pharmacist point of view in order to add or remove any drug from the formulary. Thus, I will continue my pharmacy practice by creating a positive inter professional environment for the well being of the community.…

First, I fell in love with the pharmacy when I was seven years old; I had a high fever and was diagnosed with malaria. When I was told I will be getting injections, I rejected it, I felt bad I didn’t like injections. My last injection gave me a swollen bum. The doctor later placed on drugs, within a few days I recovered. Ever since then I promised myself that day I was going to become someone who makes those pills in future so that other kids won’t have to take those painful injections.…

I interviewed Dr. Janet Geyer and received some great information from her. Geyer sand the hardest part of becoming a doctor was “The lack of personal time, everything became about school.” I knew that going into the medical field would be hard and the majority of my time would be spent studying, but hearing it from a doctor makes it real to me. I asked Geyer what makes her happy to be a doctor and why, she said “I like the intimate part of being a nurse, people tell me more than what they would normally tell others and sometimes I am really able to make a difference.” I thought about what she said and I would love to make a difference in someone’s life, but I also need to remember that I cannot get too attached to my patients. Geyer said that if she could go back and give herself advice from when she was in college she would tell…

I am interested in pursing the major I chose above because I have developed a passion for medicine through my own health obstacles. I suffer from Chronic Migraines, which has caused me to spend a great deal of my life in doctor's offices. Positive experiences with my doctors lead to me idolizing them as a young child; so much so that I memorized the every bone in the body at the age of five. This passion stayed alive and well as I grew older, however my admiration began to transition from the doctors themselves to the subject. This all stemmed from my own health; I wanted to know exactly what was happening with my body and why. Now, I want to dedicate my life to the subject and possibly be the doctor that inspires someone to discover their…

There are two instances in my life that has inspired me to gain interest in medicine. My grandmother when I was around the age of twelve received double bypass surgery and I fell in love with the physician who took care of her. The physician was a middle aged woman who was one of the kindest person I have ever met, and she gave us the news of how everything went fine during surgery. She also gave us great confidence in how my grandmother would return to normal soon. The look on my parents and aunts face when she gave the news gave me goosebumps and to this day I feel the same goosebumps when I think about this. I just wanted to one day be in a position to deliver good news to a family and to see that “look” of relief on their faces. Another…

Her never ending support & guidance drove me to be academically focused my entire life. During high school, I was in a veterinary science program where I had my first form of medical training. Determined to graduate on time with a biology degree, I took courses over the summer every year. I personally visited UB and CCNM to explore ND school options. Upon learning what the naturopathic curriculum entails, I chose to take elective courses that would increase my success as a naturopathic medical student. I expanded my knowledge on NM elsewhere at the “Florida School of Holistic Living” & “The Center for Natural & Integrative Medicine”. I was also given the valuable experience of shadowing an acupuncturist. Her hands on instruction & advice will stay with me throughout naturopathic medical school & beyond.
