The title of the film I watched was called “The Candidate” with Robert Redford. It is a story about a lawyer and environmentalist named Bill Mckay who is persuaded to run for the Democratic nomination for the state of California U. S. Senate race. He is a staunch liberal with no political aspirations of his own but his father was previously governor of California so McKay’s backers feel he would give the Republican incumbent a run for his money. The Democratic election manager gives McKay a proposition that he can get out of the race at any time and that he is sure to lose but they need a familiar name to place on the ticket. Mckay is persuaded because it gives him the chance to speak to groups of people and spread his liberal values -which include the rights of a woman to choose abortion,…

O'Brien's The Things They Carried describes the many different things soldiers carried during the war. Of course they would carry items they would need to survive but not only that, they would also carry personal items. Some of the things the soldiers would carry were a little odd but would mean something to them. Ranging from Henry Dobbins' girlfriend's pantyhose to Mitchell Sanders' condoms, the unit was filled with bizarre articles that held sentimental feeling. Lieutenant Jimmy Cross, however, restricted his personal belongings to pictures and letters from Martha.…
American Psycho is one of the fiercest criticisms that an American writer has made of his own country: a complacent and self-indulgent society. For his argument, the author has chosen a risky path: Patrick Bateman, not a rebel or an outcast, Patrick is a young man of success, however, also capable of rape, torture and murder.…
Christopher Wallace stood a large man at standing 6" 3' and weighing 300 some pounds .Christopher aka "Biggie Smalls" named himself after a hustling character in Bill Cosby's "Lets Do it Again" action-comedy. In the book Into the Wild, written by Jon Krakauer, a man named Chris McCandless and his adventures are followed as he travels the states, parts of Mexico then eventually a fatal trip to Alaska. As McCandless grew up, he didn't always have the best relationship with his parents, so when he finished college, he vowed to himself that he’d live on the road and forget his old life and never having to depend on anyone again. McCandless believed that the mainstream lifestyle was too constricting and didn’t allow him to be his own person so he decided to rid himself of the burden of depending on people by traveling with only what he could carry and living on the land. Some people might say McCandless was a reckless and childish person that just to get back at his parents left and didn’t even give them the satisfaction of telling them when, where or even why.Though he did resent his parents and their relationship was one of much strain his trip was not out of sheer hatred for them. McCandless often showed signs of his urn to be independent. On page 52 in the book Into the Wild a man named Ronald Franz that McCandless had…

When watching Hallmark network films, it is quite common to see certain actors featured regularly, and sometimes we don't even think about learning their names or looking up their other works, especially if they are in supporting roles. However, I have discovered that if I delve a little bit deeper, I often find that I come across incredible talent, and I understand why Hallmark chooses to highlight these gifted actors again and again. Matt Hamilton is one such actor. No matter what role he tackles, his presence on screen cannot be ignored, and he is one of those memorable personages. Recently, I had the opportunity to chat with Matt about his nontraditional journey into acting as well as his upcoming works, including Death Al Dente: A Gourmet…
“The trails I made led outward into the hills and swamps, but they led inward also...To take the trail and not look back. Whether on foot, on showshoes or by sled, into the summer hills and their late freezing shadows-a high blaze, a runner track in the snow would show where I had gone. Let the rest of mankind fine me if it could”(John Haines, The stars, The snow The Fire In Into The Wild 127). In the novel, Into The Wild,by Jon Krakauer, challenges the slander the protagonist faces. In the book, the protagonist is Chris Mccandless, otherwise known as Alex Supertramp. In The Road, the first 16 pages give the reader a good perspective of the novel. The reader learns that the world has undergone a dramatic change. The world seems post-apocalyptic, and there is nothing much that remains. Two characters are presented but are not described in any way; we only know that they are labeled as ‘the man’ and ‘the boy’ who are father and son. McCarthy does not give description to ‘the man’ or ‘the boy’, but there actions and dialogues give the reader some sort of understanding of the characters. McCarthy could be labeling the characters ‘the man ‘and ‘the boy’ to show the effects on mankind after this catastrophe. By labeling them ‘the man’ and ‘the boy’, it could be that McCarthy is trying to universalize his characters, showing how much of a change there has been in the novel after the tragedy which has transformed the earth.…
The term earth or land art is used to describe site-specific artworks made in the environment, using the materials and forms of the environment. Most earth art is known to the public through photographs and written records. Because earth art is part of the environment it is subject to the force of nature that can cause it to change over time, or can even destroy it. The rise of earth art in the 1960 is sometime associated with an increasing awareness of environmental issues. Most artist, however were attracted to earth art as part of a desire to escape the gallery system and the commodification of art objects.…
