1. Get to see the penguin parade.
This has to be the most famous attraction that brings most people to Philip Island.
Some people only come here to visit only this one attraction! It is a phenomenon which occurs every sunset where as much as 1000 penguins come from the ocean onto the beach in long processions that resemble parades as the waddle over the sand on their way to sleep in the scrubs. Visitors are allowed to see them up close in general admission areas on the beaches which is just an amazing experience.
2. Checking out sea lions at Nobbies Centre.
Checking out sea lions and the beautiful scenery here at the Nobbies Centre is absolutely free. Nobbies are offshore rocks found just off the Coast of Philip Island and which overlook the seal rocks which are the abode of Australia’s largest colony of sea lions. One can view the behavior of these animals in their unspoilt natural habitat while on boardwalks which allow close proximity to the coast.
3. Taking a journey to Antarctica at the Nobbies Centre.
This is a relatively new attraction which relatively new at the Nobbies Centre but which absolutely worth it. It involves a virtual journey to the continent of Antarctica as well as exhibits offering a lot of information about the animal life on the island and on Antarctic. Even the temperatures can be regulated to match those in
Antarctica.
4. Churchill island heritage farm.
This farm located at a driving distance just off the Coast of Philip Island is a great place to take the kids. Activities one can enjoy here include demonstrations of sheep shearing, cow milking, working dogs and whip cracking. The small buildings on the farm which house various animals and craftsmen such as blacksmiths.
5. The koala conservation Centre.
Here at the koala conversation center you will sure appreciate the great deal of information you will learn about koalas. It is great fun trying to spot the elusive koalas in the natural habitat snacking on leaves in the high trees while on boardwalks here.
6. Wildlife coast cruises.
One can take a boat ride at the Coast of Philip Island in order to have an up-close view of the marine life teaming in the ocean and shores. In case you prefer virtual racing you can get behind the wheels of the race simulators where you can challenge your friends.
You could also walk down history lane at the History of Motorsport Museum and learn about the early pioneers of motorsport. Finally the gift shop available at the Centre will ensure you don’t fail to take home awesome memorabilia to show off to your mates.
9. Panny’s Phillip Island Chocolate Factory.
The panny’s chocolate factory on Philip island is a yummy choice if you are thinking of what to do on Phillip Island. You can pop in for a bar of chocolate, coffee or better yet strawberries dipped in chocolate or check out their other paid attraction: “the amazing world of chocolate”. You also get a chance to learn how chocolate is processed from its harvesting from the cocoa plant to the finished product in the factory. Other amazing experiences especially for the kids include model trains, chocolate statues, ball games and the chance to produce custom shaped chocolate bars on their miniature equipment.
10. National Vietnam Veterans Museum.
The national Vietnam veteran’s museum is was built by Vietnam War veterans in order to support other veterans cope with the experiences of the Vietnam War. It is run by volunteers and here you will find war artefacts as well as a great deal of information about the war. The tanks, aircrafts and artillery pieces on display will greatly impress kids and adults alike. This is a great place to learn about the Vietnam War and the contribution Australian troops made in it.
