Adobe Photoshop, or simply Photoshop, is a graphics editor developed and published by Adobe Systems. It is the current market leader for commercial bitmap and image manipulation, and is the flagship product of Adobe Systems. It has been described as "an industry standard for graphics professionals"[1] and was one of the early "killer applications" on Macintosh.[2]
Photoshop CS3, the current tenth iteration of the program, was released on 16 April 2007. "CS" reflects its integration with other Creative Suite products, and the number "3" represents it as the third version released since Adobe re-branded its products under the CS umbrella. Photoshop CS3 features additions such as the ability to apply non-destructive filters, as well as new selection tools named Quick Selection and Refine Edge that make selection more streamlined. On April 30th, Adobe released Photoshop CS3 Extended, which includes all the same features of Adobe Photoshop CS3 with the addition of capabilities for scientific imaging, 3D, and high end film and video users. The successor to Photoshop CS3, Photoshop CS4, will be the first 64-bit Photoshop.[3]

Starting the recommendations with the most important –graphics card. A graphics card is perhaps the most effective and important when running graphics based software such as Photoshop. This is because all graphics based software such as Photoshop or illustrator demands RAM and CPU power. Furthermore, the card takes digital information from the OS resulting in what is shown to be the picture on the screen. It then produces a signal that the display understands. A graphics cardhas its own CPU and RAM and it affects the performance of the core CPU by processing its own graphics or at least assisting with the process.Colour depth is the number of bits used by the graphics system to hold the colour of each pixel.Professional graphic designers tend to work with 32-bit colour depth, this gives true colour (32 bits for each pixel: 24 bits for the colour and 8 bits giving transparency information of 256 values, from opaque to fully transparent). 24-bit colour depth means the number of colours available on a system would be 16.7 million. ‘Pixel’ is short for picture element which is a spot of colour on an output device.A suitable graphics card would be the Asus AMD Radeon HD 6670 Graphics Card (1GB, PCI-Express, GDDR5 and dust-proof Fan). Moreover, the graphics card…

Kenny’s lifelong love for photography began when he first picked up his mother’s Kodak Instamatic camera. “I had never used one before,” Kenny said. Yet his curiosity turned into fascination with an eagerness to learn more. He studied the greats — Ansel Adams, Minor White, among others — but Kenny felt the most connected to White’s work. “[His influence] was really important,” Kenny said. “He did a lot of abstract stuff, and I saw the connection right away.”…

Daniella Zalcman is a multimedia journalist, photographer and web designer based in London and New York City. She was born in Washington, DC and graduated from the University of Columbia with a degree in architecture. She begin to create a series of double exposure photographing when she moved from New York to London in 2012. For photography editing, she only used iPhone 4S and relied on smartphone applications. She said the reason she chose to use iPhone is that the use for bulky digital camera for newspaper and magazine demands a high level of focus and is never comfortable. However, her phone frees her from those constraints, so she can experiment and use editing techniques that would be ‘once out of place’ in photojournalism.…

Although music and the piano were a major part of Adams’ life, there was one thing that would play an even bigger part in his life and become his career, photography. In the summer of 1916, his family set out for a short visit to Yosemite. Once they arrived, it was practically “love at first sight”. His father gave him a Kodak No. 1 Box Brownie camera to take pictures of the sights he enjoyed so much. This became the start of a new era of his life. He raced from one side of the valley to the other, shooting everything in sight. He wanted to capture the beauty of nature and of everything around him. He was disappointed in the way the snapshots turned out because they didn’t convey the feeling and emotion of everything that he had seen in person. He began to learn everything he could about photography, the process behind it and even how to develop his own negatives. He read photography magazines, visited art exhibits and attended camera club meetings. In the years following, he spent his time split between his music and Yosemite. The next year when he went to Yosemite, he brought a tripod with a better camera, as well as knowledge of photography (Ansel Adams: A Documentary Film).…

Photography, however, did not really begin until 1839 when the world heard about something startling. Louis Daguerre had invented a way to permanently reproduce a fleeting image on a metal plate. It took 30 minutes to expose, not eight hours. The advent of this technology resulted in a new language that everyone understood. The language was photography, through which we could recall a moment frozen in time and could share it with others.…

Unlike documentary style photography, which serves as “a tool for providing authentic visual evidence of social inequities,” vernacular photography is not intended to communicate a particular message about social issues (Rosenblum 384). Some have argued vernacular photography has “an honesty, transparency and authenticity lacking in more sophisticated high-art kinds of photography” (Johnson 1). Originally, photography took skill and patience very few people possessed, but as new methods were developed, its surpassed people’s expectations in its abilities to met different artistic, scientific and social needs. “An artist is a man who seeks new structures in which to order and simplify his sense of the reality of life” (Szarkowski 103). In the case of African American photographers, it was the reality of their lives and of all African American people, which needed to be ordered, simplified and clearly communicated to others to put an end to social…

The Jonestown Massacre, which had a death toll of 918 people (Rosenberg, 2003), can in the main, be regarded as mass suicide or what in the words of the founder Jim Jones was termed “revolutionary suicide”. This is because all but one of temple members, Christine Miller, supported Jones’ suggestion of “revolutionary suicide” (Jonestown Audiotape, 1978). Jim McElvane, a former therapist, assisted Jones by arguing against Miller 's resistance to suicide, stating "Let 's make it a beautiful day". This statement was followed by applause from Temple members. In addition to Jim McElvane, several other temple members gave speeches praising Jones and his decision for the community to commit suicide (Jonestown Audiotape, 1978). Some instances that preceded the ugly event and suggest it as mass suicide include;…
