Physical Changes Affecting The Form Of A Chemical Substance
PHYSICAL SCIENCE physical change-changes affecting the form of a chemical substance,Physical changes are used to separate mixtures into their component compounds
Example:breaking glass

Chemical changes- when a substance combines with another to form a new substance ,called chemical synthesis.
Example: burning wood

Law of Conservation of Mass-The law of conservation of mass states that mass in an isolated system is neither created nor destroyed by chemical reactions or physical transformations. According to the law of conservation of mass, the mass of the products in a chemical reaction must equal the mass of the reactants.
Example: If you massed the reactants oxygen and wax, it would equal the mass of the products water and carbon dioxide.

If any part of a meteoroid survives the fall through the atmosphere and lands on Earth, it is called a meteorite.

Why do we get seasons-because the earth is tilted

Why do we get night and day-The Earth takes 24 hours to make one complete turn. We have day and night because the Earth rotates.

What is a solstice-either of the two times in the year, the summer solstice and the winter solstice, when the sun reaches its highest or lowest point in the sky at noon, marked by the longest and shortest days

What is an equinox-the time or date (twice each year) at which the sun crosses the celestial equator, when day and night are of equal length (about September 22 and March 20).

20. What is the difference between a Spring tide and a Neap tide? What phase is the moon in for each one-The difference in height between high and low waters varies as the moon waxes and wanes from new to full and back to new again. The larger tides are called spring tides (nothing to do with season of spring). The smaller tides are called neap tides. Click the links below to learn more about the

Is this a chemical change or a physical change? Using vinegar to take off crusty scales is an example of a chemical change. This is because when using vinegar a new substance is formed. In this case the new substance is a gas. Another reason why we know that it is a chemical change is because bubbles are noticed This immediately tells us that it is a chemical change and not physical.…

At this time the high tides are higher than normal and the low tides are lower thn normal. This is known as a spring tide. Spring tides are especially strong tides (but they do not have anything to do with the season Spring). They occur when the Earth, the Sun, and the Moon are in a line. The gravitational forces of the Moon and the Sun both, make the tides much stronger. During the moon's quarter phases the sun and moon work at right angles causing the bulges to cancel each other out. As a result there is a much smaller difference between high and low tides and is known as a neap tide. Neap tides are very weak tides. They occur when the gravitational forces of the Moon and the Sun are perpendicular to one…

Spring tides occur when the gravity of the moon is combined with the gravity of the sun, and neap tides occur when the gravitational pull of the sun and moon act against each other. Spring tides are seen at the full moon and new moon, and neap tides are seen at the quarter moons. The immense amount of gravity at a spring tide causes the high tides to be very high, and the low tides to be very low. Spring tides take waters to an extreme, whereas neap tides moderate water levels. Water levels are moderated at a neap tide because the gravitational pulls of the sun and moon cancel each other out, which flattens the bugles of the water. The water level is higher by 20 percent in high tides and lower by 20 percent in low tides as a result of spring and neap tides (Cooley).…

Many changes occur in our natural environment, both physical and chemical. Physical changes occur when a substance changes from one state (gas, liquid, solid) to another without alteration of the chemical composition. Contrary to chemical changes, physical changes are mostly reversible. Chemical changes take place when new chemical substances are formed.…

Tides can be defined as the rise and fall of the ocean water in coastal areas, usually occurring twice in a 24-hour period. Though it is mostly due to the gravitational pull of the Moon on the Earth, the Sun also contributes to this phenomenon. It is the interacting movements of the Earth, Moon and Sun with which these tides originate from. During a full or new moon all three factors are positioned in a straight line and thus create much larger spring…
