According to the analysis published in Center for Naval Analyses, it cost the Navy $49,290 to train an electronics technician that works on a nuclear-powered submarine or surface warfare ship and cost about $24,301 to replace a first term Sailor (Garcia, Joy, Reese 1998). That is millions tax payer dollars being wasted every year and has forced the military to really take a good look at its Physical Fitness Readiness policy. At several large Navy commands, senior leadership continue to make this argument an uphill battle, they are against a mandatory daily physical fitness program, because it interferes with productivity and shouldn’t be conducted during normal working hours. Commands do not take physical training seriously enough, and leaders ' attitudes put their sailor’s health at risk and damaged physical readiness, according to the analysis by the Naval Audit Service (Stewart2 013).

Reading this essay really put the thought in how crucial the Marine Corps is about their weight and exercise. I have just got out of the marines before coming here to West Chester so I can relate a lot to what this entails. One of my experiences to this article is that I had a very good friend who was an excellent marine. He always did the right thing, was incredibly intelligent, and overall a good person. His only downfall was he was on the heavier side. Once you don’t make weight they will put you on a program called BCP for six months. You must then work out every work day for six months but if you are still over weight to their standards after a year, then they kick you out. That is exactly what happened to my good friend. I hope this essay…

Furthermore, a non-homogenous unit provides unique solutions to problem-solving and Most importantly, fully integrated units have experienced a decrease in instances of military sexual assault, as all Marines are reminded to view each other as members of a team, instead of reinforcing gender norms and negative stereotypes by completely banishing women from vital roles. In a 200-year journey, the Marine Corps has slowly chosen make the changes that have updated its force from one that relied solely on speed and brawn to a more inclusive force that utilized the best assets found in the available demographics.
