Numerous people suffer from long-term injuries or acute injuries leading to physically and mentally issues. Physical therapy (PT) combined with psychology, has always been my desired career path due to the fact that I would like to combine the physical and mental aspects to help people recover from an injury that creates disturbance in everyday life. With PT and rehabilitation counseling (RC) I can combine the physical and psychological aspects, helping with injuries both mentally and physically giving the patient the best recovery.
The Combination of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Counseling PT is a career path that focuses on improving movement and rehabilitating patients who have a physical injury (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2014a). RC focus on the emotional barriers a physical condition can create, helping individuals conquer normal tasks that create a disturbance in everyday life (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2014b). In general, PT focuses on the bodily rehabilitation and how to help the patient recover in the best possible way.
As for RC, it is important to know how to prepare and develop the rehabilitation plans needed for the client, as well as maintain a trustful bond with the client.
