The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane shares a story about a young lady named Connie Goodwin who was not only living her life, but was also involved in other lives from the past. In the current time, Connie is going to school for her PhD and studying Colonial American history at Harvard. After Connie is done dealing with her research for school she ends up moving forward to start her candidacy for her PhD, but then gets a message from her mother, Grace, wanting her to help clean out her grandmother’s house which is located near the town of Salem. After Connie arrives at Salem she notices that the house looks like it has a story to tell and starts to do some investigating of her own. Her professor, Manning Chilton, is her mentor at Harvard and he complements her education, until he starts to want the book that Connie has been looking for. By then the Chilton starts to care little about her academic side of things and more about his personal gains. Later, while she is looking for information in museums about the mysterious book around Salem, she runs into her love interest in the story, Sam. Sam is also highly educated and holds a Master’s degree in Preservation Studies. Intrigued by Connie’s education level and her hunt for information connected to her findings, he becomes well involved in her research, giving notions that it is more interesting then what he does and aides her on her quest. Connie’s mother, Grace, is not really into education, but is still proud of her daughter and the goals she has accomplished in life. However, Grace is more of a hippie and wishes that Connie would get more in touch with her spiritual side instead of being so involved in school and the pressures that come along with
