People’s perceived risk about flying is higher because of lack of knowledge and depending on this it’s considered more out of their personal control. It’s likely that people make risk-based decisions more by their perception of risk rather than through objective risk analysis.
2) WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PERCEIVED RISK AND ACTUAL RISK?
Actual risk is based on calculations, mathematical anlysis, statistics, etc. Perceived risk results from lack of control, lack of understanding, fears, etc.
3) WHAT ROLE DOES MODERN TECHNOLOGY PLAY IN PEOPLE MAKING DECISION BASED ON PERCEIVED RISK?
It causes an echo chamber. Social media and internet easily lead people to a positive feedback loop for their particular belief or misbelief.
