Article nine of The Pirate Code reads "No man shall talk of breaking up their way of living till each has a share of 1,000. Every man who shall become a cripple or lose a limb in the service shall have 800 pieces of eight from the common stock and for lesser hurts proportionately." (as cited in “Bartholomew Roberts,” n.d., Brazil section, para. 2). Pirates are usually stereotyped as being mean spirited men and they put this nice act into their rules to olive by. To put this fully into perspective, pirates thought of something God did not. Is God not supposed to be perfect in every way according to the Bible? The fact that people who are known to steal from people while their heads are turned came up with something that God did not is not only impressive, but also a bit dumbfounding. If anything the roles should be reversed, but they are not. In conclusion, it seems that the great and powerful God does actually have some things in common with some scavenger scum pirates.
