The first serious accident as a result of the jitney service in Long Beach occurred February 6, 1915, when sixty-year-old Amanda Colbern (1853-2/6/1915) was struck at Fourth Street and Atlantic Avenue when returning from a revival meeting. Twenty-two year old W. J. Holloway was the driver. Some witnesses stated that young Holloway turned about in his seat to listen to one of his passengers and at that moment Mrs. Colbern walked in front of the car. The woman was hurled to the pavement, sustaining a skull fracture and a broken right arm. She was unconscious when picked up and rushed to Seaside Hospital. Despite witness testimony Holloway was not arrested by police. Amanda is buried at Sunnyside Cemetery next to her husband Presley E. Colbern (1846-10/12/1921).…

“I got through and saw the deceased Robinson laying on the floor on his back. I could see … blood running from the back and nostrils.” William Robinson was a coloured settler in Salt Spring Island in British Columbia who was brutally murdered in the spring of 1868. There were a few suspects taken into consideration as to being responsible for this innocent man’s death, yet one suspect got all of the attention; Tshuanahusset. Receiving most of the publicity and scrutiny by authorities, Tshuanahusset soon became the main suspect of the case. Yet, there was no hard evidence found as proof that Tshuanahusset was guilty, only circumstantial evidence. The indifferent actions of the judicial system occurred solely because they had the main…
After Dahmer’s first murder he had left college at Ohio State University, and then forced by his father joined the army (2016). Dahmer had a drinking problem, which continued while he was enlisted in the army. He was later on discharged by the army, in 1981 (2016). Post Dahmer’s discharge from the army, he moved back to Ohio. The same year as his leave from the army, Dahmer was arrested for disorderly conduct. His father then sent him off to live with his grandmother in Wisconsin (2016). While living in Wisconsin he was arrested for indecent exposure. Later on after his first arrest in Wisconsin he got a second one, after two boys claimed he masturbated in front of them(2016).…
When someone is murdered, it is usually easy to track the murderer. The fingerprints line up with the suspect who was murdered, specific DNA found is matched, and witnesses stories connect to make a believable murder story proved by facts. The Murder story of Hae Min Lee is quite the opposite. The entire Murder case is based off of stories told by witnesses and very little evidence. Hae Lee was Murdered by Adnan Syed because of his lack of memory, witness evidence, and the court's ruling.…
Amanda Knox was your average college student. Like many others, she went to college to “find herself.” When an opportunity presented itself for her to study abroad in Perugia, Italy, Ms. Knox was eager to apply. Most students come back from these programs excited to share their experiences, but Knox found herself completely distraught from what she had gone through. On November 1, 2007, Amanda Knox and her boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, had been accused of the sexual assault and the murder of Meredith Kercher. The scene seemed to be very disordered and muffled with blood spread on the walls and her throat cut up by a kitchen knife. The controversial murder case was brought up to the highest court in Italy, The Supreme Court of Cassation. There are many different pieces of evidence pointing to her guilt. Further, her lack of an alibi only confirms she is guilty of the crime.…

Jose worked with Joe in a bakery. He showed the readers that money is only relevant if you want it to be. That money and success aren't directly correlated, success is what you make of it. Jose wanted to quit his job at the bakery because he got a better job in a movie studio, but wasn't sure how to tell his boss, who had been good to him when he needed a job the most. Jose showed the aspect of how relational success is more important in some situations than personal gains. He respected his boss, Jody Simmons, and wanted to reciprocate that feeling into how he treated those around him. He ended up dumping pies, albeit probably not the same choices many would have made today, but he felt bad, and paid for the ruined pies with his paycheck. He wasn't in the game of life for the purpose of living comfortably and having lots of money and by default hurting those around him, he was going to do it right and valued the right things, relationships not the products of those relationships. Jose may not have been rich, but he was successful to his own standards and that was what…
In the event that the O.J. Simpson case characterized the most recent century's fixation on American wrongdoing and its arrangement of equity, "Innocent Killer" puts forth the defense for owning that refinement in this one. Armies of watchers, changed into online sleuths, keep on analyzing through the subtle elements of the mind-twisting instance of Steven Avery, the Manitowoc District man who was wrongly sentenced in 1985, just to be captured two years after his discharge from jail for the awful murder of Teresa Halbach.…
In 1985 in Luttrell, Tennessee, Paul Gregory House was sentenced to death for the murder of Carolyn Muncey. A family friend reported that they have seen House near the Muncey house before Muncey’s body was found. House agreed to be interviewed in the local jail but he made false statements to the police. House was in the previous running with the law in Utah. “House was on Parole following a 5-year sentence for sexual assault in that state” (Neubauer & Fradella, 2014). House was found guilty in union county, Tennessee on circumstantial evidence. Since House was found guilty he was eligible for death (capital punishment) . house then filed a pro se petition claiming he had ineffective counsel. He attempted at a second post-conviction appeal but the Tennessee Supreme court held. So house filed for a habeas corpus relief. In 2002, the U.S. Supreme Court of Appeals reviewed the case due to new DNA evidence that could prove the innocence of House. The Court of Appeals attempted to transfer the case to the Tennessee Supreme Court but they denied a new trial. Then the Tennessee Supreme court attempted to send it back to the…
My day off for my job was today, but instead my time off of work became a hectic murder investigation. I’m Darius Jones. I'm 18 years old and I live in an apartment about five minutes away from my job. People would usually describe me as a tall, average built guy with brown curly hair. They say that I’m pale as can be and that I have a plain face.…

On October 3rd, 2015, a group of children were playing with their new puppies outside in White Pine, Tennessee, while their parents were watching a football game. A disagreement took place when one girl, MaKayla Dyer, refused to allow a fellow playmate to play with her puppy. Dyer was 8 years old and her shooter is 11 (Botelho and Blackwell). The boy got the weapon, a 12-gague shotgun, from an unlocked closet (Karimi and Blackwell). Dyer’s shooter has been charged with first-degree murder. He weighs approximately 55 pounds, and is reported to be both the youngest and the smallest detainee at the Jefferson County juvenile detention center (Botelho et.al.).…
