Definition
Pivot table is the tool to summarize information of the data which help to analyze your data and help in effective understanding of the data. Pivot table automatically sort, count, total the data. It helps to make necessary changes as per the need and provide us a clear picture of the information hidden in the original data to make necessary decision and views on the basis of data provided.

How pivot table helps * Gives us a brief of the original data . * Summarize data into more informational format . * Make the data understandable even to the newcomers. * Avoid unnecessary data content and saves time. * Help in decision making and analysis of data.

Its been used by all the firms and companies to make use of the data collected by getting the useful information from the data, as pivot table make the data more informative and present it in a useful and summarize manner. Its been used to avoid delays by making it easily understandable by all and make decision on the basis of analysis done.
Pivot table is a tool much flexible to be used and find out the different relations. For an example : a college want to give scholarship to those students whose % is more than 75% and want their attendance also, so it could be a difficult task to find out how many student are eligible to get an scholarship ; so this tool help them to find out and reflect the desired result by filtering the data as per the situation.
Application
Pivot table brings you with different view of a particular data in different ways as per your requirement. Various companies use it find its sales of particular quarter, find the maximum sale revenue or lowest revenue in particular year, quarter,month. They don’t need to peek the pages or move from one work book to another to find the required information , pivot table is the zin to do it for them.     My company can make a massive use of spread sheets, for this I will use Microsoft Excel as this is the software that easily available. With this software I will be able create many things including a Cash Flow diagram (Appendix 1). This will allow me to then work out efficiently the costs of the business, the income of the business and the cash flow throughout the months. This software will also allow me to have formulas to make sure that the totals are correct, due to using the of the if I was to decide that I wanted to pay lower wages or found a supplier with lower prices I could change the figures in my spread sheet and the formula would then change the totals automatically. The formulas that I have used is the ‘SUM’ function to add up the totals and also then used them to add up my Net Cash Flow and my opening and closing bank balances (Appendix 2). This piece of software is very useful as it means I will have no calculations to do myself and will reduce the possibility of mistakes. It also makes the figures and all of my profits/losses and costs very clear, easy to understand and interpret. The disadvantages are that if you do not have some experience in using excel it can be hard to understand and mistakes can be made, even with experience in using it.…
