Bayterek is the most famous attraction in Astana and is definitely worth visiting. It symbolizes the tree of life described in the legends of the Kazakh people.
Another place is Khan Shatyr. It is the most significant architectural feat of the 21st century. Khan Shatyr is a massive, transparent tent and the biggest tensile structure on the globe. It towers over the south of Astana. Inside the tent is a veritable mini city that includes streets, gardens, shopping malls, a beach resort, concert halls, a golf course, cinemas, and even a boating river. The entertainment center’s activities are worth a visit.
In Astana there are plenty of bars, pubs and clubs for every taste. There are a few local establishments which specialize in Kazakh food, but most of the regional delicacies can be found in street stalls and informal restaurants. To eat like a local, try Kishlak, which serves up traditional Uzbek shashlyk. If you have enough money a good option for you will be Derevnya Yegorkino.
For evening entertainment you should go to the State Theatre of Opera and Ballet "Astana Opera". Astana Opera is one of the most beautiful theaters in the world.
