After reading the University of Phoenix Student Code of Conduct, I was not really surprised by what misconduct will not be tolerated; and what conduct will be punishable. Many, if not all, learning facilities, universities, and schools have similar codes of conduct that all students have to follow. I believe, it is necessary as a student to be aware of the code of conduct; and follow the code of conduct to be successful in school. Once I read the Student Code of Academic Integrity, I was surprised to learn about self-plagiarism. Self-plagiarism was a phrase I was not familiar with, and certainly not aware that it is wrong. Perhaps, I was unaware of self-plagiarism because I have been out of a classroom setting for quite some time. In conclusion, I feel that after reading both codes I am more informed about what is expected of me when it comes to how a student is supposed to act; and what is acceptable and not acceptable.…

Additionally, ethics and integrity are stressed in the policy as faculty and students are encouraged to “foster a strong institutional culture of academic integrity.” To find out if and why students are behaving in accordance with the academic integrity policy, a survey was administered. In reading the essay “Should Educators Use Commercial Services to Combat Plagiarism” the authors gave some conflicting opinions on educators using plagiarism services. I chose to focus on this topic because so many of my fellow learners/peers are not clear on plagiarism and how plagiarism services work. Plagiarism is the intentional use of someone else’s work without giving them credit. Services like Turnitin detects plagiarism. Some educators suggest that concern with plagiarism should be more about teaching students to appreciate the development of knowledge, acknowledge intellectual contributions of other scholars, and represent the process of building on existing knowledge in academic writing and less about violating rules and copyright…

The paper responds to this proposition with a thesis that understanding the ethical reasoning provided by students in defending plagiarism is crucial in preventing it in student populations. The reasons can provide the basis for specific action-orientated recommendations to reduce plagiarism and to design programs to encourage originality and academic honesty within the relevant educational institutions. Moreover, the authors explain that this study has broader implications, given the link between educational plagiarism and the organisation and profitability of businesses.…
Because I have been properly educated on the matter at hand, I am now able to avoid plagiarism with not trouble. Even though the dual credit courses I am participating in have greatly expanded my knowledge on academic integrity and how to cite my sources, I did possess a fair amount of comprehension about educational ethics from previous training during my freshman year in high school. I was lucky enough to have an excellent educator at my side to ensure that I gained the understanding over academic integrity that I would need as I approached my college years. Therefore, because I had an outstanding educator to teach me how to avoid plagiarism, I can say that I did receive proper training on the matter before I began to participate in dual credit…
