Plane crash
Please fasten your seat belt sir.” The voice of the flight steward woke me back from my reverie. After what seemed like thousands of years, finally I was taking a long break from my official and marital stress. I just couldn’t stop day dreaming about how perfect my vacation in Hawaii would be! As my flight took off, the excitement grew even further to feel the warm, sandy beaches sparkling in the sun, the sweet smelling pine trees and the luscious aroma of Pena Coladas, which would be welcoming me in a short while. I was so glad to leave back my chaotic life, which had made a person as carefree as me stress out at the drop of a hat, that all the fuss and the children whining around me just didn’t seem to matter at all.
It was a smooth night flight and for a change even turbulence seemed to be having a day off. But about twenty minutes later, the plane sharply jolted back and forth. It was sharp enough to grab everybody’s attention. A cold shiver ran down my spine and I quietly scolded myself for visualizing all those movies about plane crashes in just a fraction of a second. I hadn’t even calmed my nerves down when suddenly extreme turbulence started occurring, making the plane lurch sideways and bags started falling from the upper luggage compartments. I could hear faint cries accompanied by nervous laughter around when the pilot made an announcement that the plane had merely gotten stuck in an air pocket and there was nothing to worry about. But just to add up to our nervousness, the cabin lights started flickering and in a minute, we were surrounded by utter darkness. The roaring of the engines, the whispering of people everything went as silent as a grave and all I could hear was the spooky whoosh of the wings against the wind.
By now I had realized that something was terribly wrong and that we all were headed towards a huge disaster. It was then that the plane started spinning in a horrible way, trolleys were... [continues]

Climbing into the lime green car, my fear was over taking me. I was getting ready to ride the Titan, an adrenaline pumping roller coaster ride at Six Flags. It was easily the scariest ride at the park, in my opinion, with its enormous peaks, its deep descents, and double helix like turns was enough to make me sick. The ride began. Ascending up in the car on the canary yellow track, into the humidity filled, bright sky, the people observing from below resembled little army ants . The aerial view of Dallas was breathtaking, as I reached the peak of the ride and looked around. Passengers occupying the cars in front of me started falling off, like a cliff. I let out a high-pitched shrill, as we plummeted toward the Earth below. Traveling…

It was 3 a.m on a Saturday morning. My mother came in to wake us up. It was finally the day I had been waiting for. I had never been so excited to wake up at 3 o’clock in the morning in my life. We had finally arrived at the airport and boarded our first flight to Mexico City. When we had arrived in Mexico we were exhausted from the flight and realized we still had one more three hour flight, then paradise. We went to wait in line to start checking in our bags for our flight. As we were waiting, an hour went by; then, two hours passed, finally, we heard an announcement. We all paused and listened. “Flight 36 to Cancun is cancelled until…

I woke up tired on a beautiful, sunny, Tuesday morning. It was the day I had to fly to San Francisco for my job on a cruise ship. I had been in between cruises, so I had taken the chance to come see my parents in Newark, New Jersey. Later I realized that it could have cost me dearly. I changed into my pressed, white, long sleeved shirt with khaki pants and my sailors hat that I had to wear for my job as a deckhand. I arrive at Newark Liberty International Airport a hour before my flight, where I hug my parents goodbye. I walk in and go through security easily and go to my gate and wait for thirty minutes until we would be able to board.…

The plane hit the river. Quickly, large gushes started to fill the plane. The frigid water made Jonas’s feet numb. The stewardesses calmly announced, “We will evacuate the plane.” The doors opened and large inflatable slides popped up from every exit door. People were rushing to get out. Jonas noticed a lady crawling over the seats with a wrapped-up baby in her arms. Older people struggled with the incoming current. People were trembling and their faces looked pale from the shock and the freezing temperature of the water. The pilot paced the aircraft back and forth making sure all the passengers had been evacuated. Sirens could be heard from the city, and helicopters hovered above. One by one, the passengers went down the slides without hesitation. Nobody was hurt, but everybody was wet and shaking. A large ferry shuttled everyone to safety.…

Overwhelmed. The only word I can think of when the flight attendant calmly says, “Welcome to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, you may now unfastened your seatbelts.” Tears fell from my eyes and all the emotions that I was feeling for the last 4 hours suddenly began pouring out. I had never been to Haiti and the only mindset of it I had was that there was killing and kidnapping. I was extremely anxious because of that. “NO!, YES!, NO!, YES!, NO!!”, my conflicted mind begins to yell. I couldn't believe that I was actually there. Holding up the line, I got off the plane as slowly as possible. Ironically, being up in the air was much more relieving than being on the grounds IN HAITI !. “Daph, you’ll be alright,” my mom says. “Hopefully,” I mumbled. I thought to myself that maybe just maybe I will actually enjoy it.You will never actually understand the importance of bigger things without appreciating the little things…

When I was young I always dreamed of flying on a plane. Finally, my dream was coming true, and I was on my way to the USA where I had always known I would end up. This was my first trip on an airplane, and it was also one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I remember everything about my first flight, and it was a lot to remember since it took twenty-seven hours from start to finish. The fight did have one stop in Japan, but that was just to change planes. Once my parents and I got onto the plane and sat down, I started to look at everything around me. I noticed the small white air vents right above my head with little lights next to the vent. It was so great because the controls were right on my armrest. There was a place on the armrest to plug the headphones in in order to listen to music or watch a movie. After everyone got settled into their seats, the airhostess came over the intercom and explained all of the safety procedures. But I am going to tell you; I couldn’t understand what they say, besides staring at their body language. They also showed everyone how to put the seat belts on correctly. After the airhostess was done with…
