Wyche advise readers to analyze how promotions and transitions will affect their personal and professional lives. In the text, Wyche says “the best way to make decisions about your career is to create a blueprint that will guide you to your ultimate destination” (Wyche 64). Having a blueprint is not only essential as a business professional, but as a student as well. A blueprint is a way to map your progress toward your ultimate goal. As a frehman in college, it can sometimes feel as if out goals are out of reach.…
Why go to college? Why would someone spend thousands of dollars to sit in yet another classroom? My uncle says “people that get a degree make over a million dollars more in a lifetime.” My dad counters that with “the world needs ditch diggers too.” I came to college to start my life, to become an independent man who finds his niche among society. I suppose some people can do that outside of school but I find college to be an optimum transition to the adult life as it teaches practical skills, instills a greater appreciation of the world, and makes one discontent with inequities in the community.…
Why attend a college? There are several people who don't attend to college, not knowing that a degree will help with many things. Attending a college is the first step to obtain all three of these results. First, people work at a place where they are there only for the high salary. Secondly, others don't spend much time with their family or friends for the reason that they need to work in order to provide. Finally, there are several people who have jobs that they dislike. A college is able to give many benefits, for instance, the ability to a high salary, ability to spend time with family and friends, and the ability to appreciate their job.…
A college degree for me means accomplishing a broader knowledge for not only my future and myself but also for those, I interact with on a daily basis. Along with…

The main purpose in pursuing a college degree is, not only to make a respectable amount of money, but to be happy with what you are doing. In today’s society, even an Associate degree has started to be an equivalent to what a high school diploma can get you, which is just your standard, everyday run of the mill job. And let’s face it, with the cost of college steadily rising, it’s very important to get all you can out of the time you are going to be investing.…
First, a college degree helps you to find a better job. It is due to big companies are looking for people to assign activities. These activities sometimes need skills that are acquired by yourself during your education. For example, when the person is successful in college or university, the person is responsible, respectful and mature to make decisions. Also, the person knows how to listen and speak to other people. Some people think about getting a better job like a path. This path is long and it may ask for knowledge, experiences and even networking; however, this entire path is built in college. A college experience opens doors to find a dreamed job. Students must keep the next idea: The more important is the job more requirements it asks.…
Having a college level education can make the life changing difference between having a job you love, and being forced to do something you don’t particularly enjoy for the remainder of your life. In addition to that, a college education opens several doors which have numerous benefits including better job opportunities, having a job you love or are pleased with, job stability, and earning more money. My college education will allow me to experience all of that, as well as acquire knowledge in my field and knowledge in things not directly related to my career of personal training. I am pursuing a college degree in order to make more money in the field I am going into; without it I would make a significantly less amount.…
To say that I dedicated numerous amounts of hours deciphering the purpose of why I’m going to college would be a lie. For years I have always thought that college is somewhere you just go after high school. I believed that it is only somewhere you go to start your career and in turn make a lot of money. In fact, this “purpose” is what has been institutionalized within U.S. citizens under this Capitalist system. We are told to go to college so we can get jobs where we can make money, buy a big house, start a family, and live the lifestyles we have always dreamed of. For a very long time this was my only goal in life: to go to college so I can get a well-paying job to afford the lifestyle that I want to live. I never put much thought into what…
Lastly, another purpose of higher education is simply just to learn. Even if you don’t have a plan or a particular job that you want to pursue higher education is always there to take advantage of and learn something you haven’t before. You don’t have to be a certain age, race, or religion. College is like one big community, we are all here for different reasons but one purpose and that is to learn. No one knows everything and there is always something new to gain knowledge about. That to me is the most beautiful thing about higher…
Do you have dreams? Well, I certainly do! I always had dreams of becoming a successful person in life, wealthy, working in a plush corner office, with all the trappings enjoyed by a senior executive! Now, dreams are good, provided we work on them, plan our goals accordingly, work towards those goals in a focused manner, and last but not the least, be passionate, motivated and persistent, in doing all it takes to achieve them. I would like to give below one of my favorite quotes by Mr. Paul J Meyer, which goes as follows. Quote: “Crystallize your goals. Make a plan for achieving them and set yourself a deadline. Then, with supreme confidence, determination and disregard for obstacles and other people's criticisms, carry out your plan.” – Late Paul J Meyer, Founder and owner of Leadership Management International. Unquote. One of the most important goals in my mission to achieve my dreams is to undergo formal college education. In fact, it is one of my most important goals. The ongoing paragraphs shall elucidate my thoughts on this. I shall first start with basic education, and its importance, before moving on to college education, and its importance to me.…
Some people say that college is not worth it. These people are wrong, people who go to college generally get a higher pay than people who don’t go to college. A college graduate has many more opportunities for employment; a degree opens a door to many more occupations. College gives you the opportunity to meet many new people, make a lot of new friends. The friends you make can also open the door for you to get better jobs. They open the door for you for a new occupation.…
Aside from the inspiring role models I gratefully have and the never-ending encouragement my family provides me with, my personal motivation for proceeding onto college are countless. Some of the larger reasons why I choose to go to college are because I see that college offers a variety of opportunities that is not offered anywhere else. For instance, college offers courses that will further one’s experience in a certain field, preparing one for the real world before one can successfully thrive in the fast-paced and volatile world. Not only will I obtain and expose myself to “the tough stuff,” which includes countless demanding college courses, I am also building a stronger profile of myself with the challenging classes I will partake for professionals who will review my resume when I apply for a job or go to a job interview (Graff 225). Going to college will allow me to be an independent individual because it will be essential for me learn how to make a living on my own. I will no longer have my parents or siblings to help and look out for me anymore. I am required to take control of my life and basically learn how to survive on my own. My college education will be highly beneficial because obtaining a college degree and/or a Bachelor’s Degree (BA) will open more doors for me considering that the fact that some employers “do not even interview applicants who do not hold a B.A.” (Graff 233). Therefore, I will have an advantage over those who do not have a B.A. Many may argue that there have been successful stories that did not involve a college education, however the chances of that are very low. Furthermore, my desire to be influenced by a new and diverse group of people leads me to go to college. I wish to be influenced by more and intelligent people who hold perceptions contrary to mine, so I can…
Why am I attending college? I enrolled in school for a few reasons. First off I was told that to get a Five Rating (the highest rating) on my next Enlisted Performance Report would have to have completed or be enrolled in college. So in order to keep myself on a strong footing for promotion I needed to head back to school. Second, I am looking to better myself not for a performance report but for myself. Completing college is something I’ve wanted to do for a while now. At my previous assignment I worked many long hours which made it impossible for me to attend school or have much of life for that matter. So now with my new assignment and much lighter work load I no longer have the work excuse. I originally went to Community College after I graduated high school but left in my sophomore year to join the Air Force. I planned on continuing once I was in and did initially but school took a backseat to other things. So in order to correct the errors of my youth I thought would give it another try and see if I can do better as an adult.…
College is one of the periods of life where there is most growth, both personally and academically. Going to college is a very challenging yet rewarding experience. It brings people out of their comfort zones personally, whereas academically, people get to focus more on what they are good at. In my case, it will be a challenge to adapt to the college environment at the same time that it will be very comfortable to finally study subjects that truly interest me. This exciting challenge is the main reason I want to go to college. Most people want to go to college to get a degree and earn a lot of money, which leads them to more expensive and selective colleges. I, on the other hand, intend to focus more on the course and the subjects I will study.…
