Plastic Baggy Ice Cream Ever really want ice cream but did not feel like going out to get it? Now you can make it at home with no ice cream maker needed to make it. Ice cream is surprisingly easy to make yourself. It is also a fun yet quick process. There are only a few steps in creating this delicious, loved, cold treat. All you need is a few ingredients and to shake, shake, shake! The first thing you will need to do is gather all of the items that you need. To make plastic baggy ice cream you will need the following; sugar, half and half, salt; rock salt works best, vanilla, ice cubes; enough to fill half of the gallon size bag, one pint size Ziploc bag, and one gallon size Ziploc bag. After all of your items are gathered, the sugar, half and half, and salt will all have to be measured out. You will need two tablespoons of …show more content…

The first thing you will want to do is open your small, pint size plastic baggy. Next you will want to combine your sugar with the half and half and vanilla all in the plastic bag. Once everything is in the baggy, make sure it is closed and sealed tight.
Afterwards, you will need to get the gallon size bag ready. Open your gallon Ziploc bag and fill it about half full with ice. Once the ice is in the baggy, add the half cup of salt right into the gallon bag, over the ice. Before you close your bag, place the sealed, pint size bag in along with the salt and ice. When the pint size bag has been placed into the gallon size, seal the gallon size back tight.
After everything is combined into the right baggies and they are sealed tight, it is time to shake. It should take about five minutes or so of continuous shaking to start seeing the difference of the liquid turning into the solid. You want to shake the gallon size bag really well until you can feel the mixture of things in the pint size bag starting to get ice cream

This was second attempt at this lab. Each time I had two little helpers, aged 11 and 7 in the kitchen that helped measure, mix and assemble. This time we had a can with a lid so they were able to help more this go around. Our mixture came up over the rim of the coffee can and when spinning, some of the mixture leaked out. The mixture was continuously moving this time in a metal can, which I think helped the freezing process happen more quickly. Once again, in the end, the kids liked it but I thought it thawed rather quickly again. I used sugar instead of honey this time and liked the flavor more. I forgot to add the chocolate chips so we sprinkled them on top instead. Always an improvement for the next time. So, if we do this again, next time, I will add the chips before spinning.…

To make ice cream with an old-fashioned hand-crank machine, you need ice and rock salt to make the cream mixture cold enough to freeze. If you live in a cold climate, you've seen the trucks that salt and sand the streets after a snowfall to prevent ice from building up on the roads. In both of these instances, salt is acting to lower the freezing point of water.…

You first boil water and start to slowly stir in sugar, you keep adding sugar while it starts accumulating at the bottom of the container. The sugar will not dissolve, this means your sugar solution is saturated.4 By not using saturated sugar solution it will slow down the crystalizing process of sugar rocks. After you have an adequate amount of sugar in the container, pour the solution in a separate glass jar and place it in a refrigerator. Check on the solution after about 24 hours and you should see crystals start to form. If you want color put dye in the solution and it should start to look like the image above.4 when you have obtained all the sugar rocks you want, then you can drain the rest of the liquid and enjoy the rock…

Have you ever wondered why after finishing an ice cold drink on a hot day that the ice had altered itself into water? Water is actually made up of lots of tiny particles. These tiny particles move around in water when it is in its liquid form, but as the temperature gets lower these particles slow down and hardly move. When it gets cold enough they stick together and then what was once a liquid has now became a solid we all know as ice. Ice turns into water, back to a liquid, when the temperature of the ice cube is rising which cause the particles in the ice to move faster and is the converted into water.…
