Plastic Beach Meaning

“Welcome to the world of the plastic beach”. This is the title of a song on the Gorillaz Album Plastic beach. But for The community of Gorillaz and the band it is much more. The plastic beach is a fictional location that the band came up with to be a harbor that they could live on. It is an island in the middle of the pacific ocean that is made up entirely of plastic bottles and waste. The characters of Gorillaz discovered this mountain of garbage when they were escaping the clutches of bruce willis in the song “stylo”. They were in a car chase and they went into the ocean into a submarine to escape. Murdoc the leader of the band group drove the submarine to The Plastic Beach where it was first revealed to the other members, and us the listeners.
Gorillaz is a real band but they were afraid of becoming known so they made up four characters and a new world to put them in. The Characters consist of four: Murdoc (lead guitar, 2-D (lead singer), noodle (bass), and Russell (drummer). These four main characters have been present in almost every video from their first album but other characters have been in a few videos. As for the actual singers, The band is lead by Damon Albarn and jamie Hewlett, and they have a very large group of singers and musicians that they work with, or will higher, to sing in their songs. Many artists can focus on one main music style. Whereas The Gorillaz change their style with every song. They’re classified as alternative hip-hop electronica. They have hints of every music style there is, but most of their songs keep the poppy electric vibe. This is the reason many listeners may prefer one album or even only a few of their songs, because all their songs can sound completely different and some people only like one type of
