MEMORANDUM FOR INSTRUCTION
SUBJECT: Platoon Sergeant Duties
1. Students serving in the position of Platoon Sergeant in the Transportation Deployment and Distribution Senior Leaders course are responsible for the successful completion of the following duties:
a. Maintaining good order and discipline.
b. Conducting Platoon accountability formations in accordance with FM 3-25.5, Drill and Ceremonies. Reports any Soldier absences to SGL.

c. Delegates tasks as assigned by the Branch Chief, SGL’s, and student First Sergeant. Follows up / supervises the platoon as required to ensure assigned task completion.
d. Informs Platoon of any changes to the training schedule as directed by SGL or Student First Sergeant.
f. Inspects platoon daily to ensure that any deficiencies are noted and corrected.

Is responsible for ensuring classrooms are set up for training / testing: arranging table and chairs, Podium strips (inside classroom on cork board), visitors’ table (visitor book, lesson plan and references).
h. Completes attendance rosters located inside of visitors book and PSG book.
i. Prepares platoon physical training (PT) calendar. Platoon sergeant then submits fitness calendar to student 1SG for SGL review.
j. Ensures preparation of physical training (PT) plan and PT risk assessment by student conducting physical training. PSG reviews PT plan and risk assessment NLT one day prior to PT session then submits to the student 1SG for SGL approval.
k. Serves as class leader during program of instruction (POI) time. Responsible for ensuring the maintenance and cleanliness of all classroom materials and equipment, completes daily classroom cleaning at the end of each duty day.
l. Prepares all required platoon detail and tasking rosters. Coordinates with SGL to ensure adequate supplies and material are on hand to complete all assigned details and duties.
m. Submits the request for all classroom and DEPEX supplies.

n. Enforces Army Standards and ALU NCOA policies.
o. When relieved of duties, ensures the incoming Platoon Sergeants are thoroughly briefed.
