Dear Mrs. Cohen

I would like to provide you some information about a previous position I held with Platt Electric Supply. I worked for Platt for 4 years; the last 2 years as a Regional Product Specialist for the Data & Communications division. After an introduction to the company this report will describe previous position, tasks involved and skills required to perform tasks.

Introduction

Platt Electric Supply is a service oriented, value added wholesaler of electrical products. Platt Electric has the infrastructure to provide an “Overnight, Everyday” promise to their customers. This promise guarantees Platt customers a reliable supply of inventory from distribution center to store location on a daily basis. Platt distribution centers also offer custom wire cuts for their customers’ convenience. Platt Electric customers can pull from over 300 vendors and 50,000 different items in stock at a Platt warehouse. Products range from ordinary light switches and outlets to camera surveillance packages and solar energy products.

In 2010 Jay Platt retired as CEO and president, handing operations over to Jeff Baker the first non-family executive. As of July 2012 the sale of Platt Electric to French company Rexel will be final. The business deal will end the Platt’s family ownership dating back 59 years to 1953 when the company was founded by Isadore and Morrie Platt. Since 1953 Platt Electric has grown to 111 store locations in 7 western states including 2 distribution centers located in Beaverton, OR and Salt Lake City, UT.

The decision to avoid the home-center channel was an appropriate decision for Stihl Incorporated (Stihl). Stihl’s product line consists of a high quality line of outdoor power equipment: chain saws, edgers, string trimmers, brush cutters, blowers, vacuums, mulchers, and sprayers. In order to differentiate Stihl’s high quality products from its competitors (satisfying buyer requirements), the selected intermediary or channel representative needed to provide the appropriate education on proper product operation, maintenance, and overall performance compared to competitive brands (information). As a quality orientated manufacturer, Stihl requires that it’s products be sold with the appropriate buying support, and after sales support. A customer that purchases a Stihl product from a retailer should be able to have that product maintained, serviced, and repaired by that retailer (channel representative). By sticking with independently owned specialty dealers and hardware stores, Stihl was able to fulfill it’s own requirements to assure buyer satisfaction.…

Having worked as a surgical device representative in the past, I am quite familiar with your company, as well as the field of interventional pain, and would welcome the opportunity to speak with you about how I could help increase your North Central Florida market share. Your Regional Recruiter, Jordan Chase, reached out to me and recommended that I contact you directly about this position. After speaking with him and sharing my experiences and past success, Jordan felt that I would be an excellent match for Medtronic.…
