a) Francis runs in to tell police about Alan and decrees not to rest till the murderer is caught

a) Francis tells Jane of Alan's murder and she becomes distraught
b) Francis tells Jane's father Dr. Olsen what happened and he promises to get permission to question Cesare

a) Shady character creeps along side of building and enters home
b) Old woman cries out from window "Murder help! Murder"
c) Shady Character flees house as group of men chase him 17) Caligari's Trailer

a) Group of men escort the murderer to the station and he is arrested

c) Francis walks outside and receives a paper that reads, Holstenwall Double Murderer captured in third attempt

a) Jane is anxious about her father's prolonged absence
21) Holstenwall Police Station
a) Francis and Dr. Olsen arrive to see the murderer
b) Murderer admits to trying to kill Old Woman but says he had nothing to do with the other 2 murders
c) Francis is distraught by this information
22) Holstenwall Fairgrounds
a) Jane looking for her father makes her way through the empty fairgrounds
b) She stops by Caligari's and asks if he's seen her father, Caligari says no but invites her in to his tent to see Cesare
c) Caligari awakens Cesare and he terrifies Jane
23) Holstenwall Cemetery
a) The Olsen's and Francis leave after Alan's Funeral
24) Holstenwall Fairgrounds
a) Francis heads towards Caligari's trailer at night
25) Caligari's Trailer
a) Francis peers through window and sees a sleeping Caligari and Cesare
26) Jane Olsen's House a) Cesare slinks along wall and enters Jane's Bedroom b) Cesare attempts to stab the sleeping Ms. Olsen but then stops c) Cesare then grabs and kidnaps a now screaming Jane Olsen d) Servants of Jane awaken to the screaming and enter bedroom to find an empty bed
27) Caligari's Trailer a) Quick return shot to show Francis still watching over a seemingly sleeping Caligari and Cesare
28) Streets of Holstenwall a) Cesare carries a passed out Jane through the streets b) Not wanting to be caught Cesare drops Jane and runs away c) A few stop to help Jane but others continue to chase Cesare d) As daylight approaches Cesare passes out and falls into ravine 29) Caligari's Trailer a) After staying all night and keeping watch Francis leaves the trailer
30) Olsen's Home a) Francis arrives to find a still passed out Jane b) After waking up Jane screams out "Cesare" c) Francis tells her and Dr. Olsen it can't have been, since he's watched them all night d) Jane demands it was Cesare and Francis leaves
31) Holstenwall Police Station a) Francis arrives to tell them what happened and asks to see the murderer they arrested in his cell
b) Policeman escorts Francis to the cell and we see him still locked up
32) Caligari's Trailer a) Francis arrives with Police and demand to enter trailer b) After a little fight the Police move past Caligari and enter trailer c) Police bring out Cesare's coffin to reveal a Cesare dummy inside d) Caligari then runs away, out of Holstenwall with Francis in pursuit e) Caligari runs into Holstenwall Insane Asylum; Francis follows him in
33) Holstenwall Insane Asylum a) Francis enters and asks Asylum doctors if they have a patient by the name of Caligari
b) Doctor's say no but ask if Francis would like to talk to Asylum's Director who just returned today from vacation
c) Doctor's escort Francis to see The Director
34) Director's Office a) Francis enters only to discover the Director and Caligari are the same man
35) Holstenwall Insane Asylum a) Francis returns downstairs to tell the doctors his story about Caligari b) The asylum doctors and Francis decide to wait till the Director falls asleep and then conduct their own investigation 36) Director's Office a) Francis and the other doctor's enter while The Director sleeps b) They discover a book on Somnambulism c) They open the book and begin to read "The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari" which tells the story of Caligari and his somnambulist Cesare
d) They then read The Director's Diary which has a excerpt about the Asylum finally admitting a somnambulist 37) (Flashback) Day the Asylum admits Cesare the Somnambulist a) The Director is shown to be extremely happy to finally have a somnambulist
38) Director's Office a) Francis and the Doctor's continue to read about the Director's plans to manipulate the somnambulist into murder 39) (Flashback) The Director's Office and Outside of Asylum a) The Director realizes he must fully become "Caligari" in order to manipulate Cesare b) The Director staggers out of his office and begins to hallucinate and he sees words all over saying "You Must Become Caligari" 40) Director's Office
a) Doctor's and Francis seem distraught at what they have learned
b) Man enters room and tells them they have found Cesare out in the fields

a) Francis and group of men carry a sleeping Cesare

a) Francis is shown seated with Old Man from 1st scene and finishes his story
b) Then various shots of people in Asylum acting crazy
c) Francis and Old Man walk by Cesare and Francis tells the Old Man to never ask Cesare his fortune or he'll end up a dead one
d) Francis sees Jane Olsen and proclaims his love for her and asks her to marry him at long last
e) Jane offers back a crazy response and Francis is perplexed
f) Francis then sees The Director walking down the stairs to the courtyard
g) Francis then exclaims It isn't him who is insane but the Director who's insane
h) Francis attacks The Director exclaiming "He is Caligari, Caligari!!"
i) Francis is restrained and placed into a straight jacket and carried to his cell
j) The Director then says he finally understands what's wrong with Francis, The Director says he thinks I am the mystic Caligari, he then also states he finally knows how to cure Francis
