Poem: Emotional Rollercoaster Ride
I wish the ride could stop,

-

Please make the emotional rollercoaster stop.

-

I want to stay on the ground;

I don't want to learn how to fly.

-

Mom, stop this ride.

-

Stop the ride, this feeling of high,

I don't want to be here anymore.

-

Down we go, A loop,

Hang on tight, ride's not over yet Emmy!

I'm feeling kinda nauseous now.

-

Please let me go,

I don't want to be here.

You're making me sick,

And I can't save you.

-

I want to save myself,

And you aren't good for me.

Mom, let me go!

I have to save myself.

-

I pushed you away.

You killed my spirit.

I have to go.

-

You should be

Nothing about life is easy; you work, you try, and sometimes you fail regardless of your efforts. Some people believe in reincarnation, others in some form of an afterlife, and some believe you only have one life. Believing that you’re only able to live one life could benefit the person because they take that idea and they accept it. In that acceptance they choose to live everyday as if it were there last, so that by their last breath they can say they had a good life, even with the many struggles and heartache. Most people live with the belief that we only have one life; although life is a gift with endless possibilities, it's…

Tattoos are permanent symbols that last forever, while relationships can’t be guaranteed permanent now a days. Kim Addonizio chooses tattoos as a symbol in this poem “First poem for you.” Water and lightning is what makes the poem most symbolistic. “Lines of lightning pulsing just above your nipple can find as if by instinct the blue swirls of water on your shoulder where a serpent twists facing a dragon.” Though symbols can have more than one meaning to them the poem helps to point of the specific meaning of these symbols.…

I’d been working towards this day forever now. Hundreds of humble yet horror-inducing faces stared me down. The buzzing speakers broke the silence in the auditorium, but I was grateful for it. If it was completely silent, I might have been jumpier than frog’s legs in a frying pan. More than I already was. I had waited for 63 people to finish, a good amount of them getting knocked out one by one. Now it was my turn.…

Abstract: Jesper Juul wrote the book Half Real: Video Games between Real Rules and Fictional Worlds (2005), which discusses game structures and explains the related impact to the players. In the chapter three of the book, Juul emphasizes that different rule structures provide different kinds of challenges in games. Accordingly, there are two distinctive ways of categorizing games: “games of progression that directly set up each consecutive challenge in a game, and games of emergence that set up challenges indirectly because the rules of the game interact” (67). Further, he claims, “[m]any games can be found on a scale…
