Point Of View Of Romeo And Juliet
The William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet novel i am going to be writing about today is a argumentative about weather ninth graders should have the opportunity to read and learn about this romantic and exciting story. I think this is a nice novel for ninth graders to take in. The elements included in this novel that i experienced and thought was unique was the fact that the novel of Romeo and Juliet had the elements of a formal style, tone,imagery, and point of view between the old and the more modern and present versions of Romeo and Juliet. The first element i found most important was point of view. The scene where Romeo finds Juliet outside of her house and they have a conversation about the rivalry between their two families is where an element of point of view is most pointed out to me because it shows the love between Romeo and Juliet. The way the two lovers make an effort to see each other and stay strong through the marriage conflict with Paris and Juliet’s parents. …show more content…
When Juliet’s father talks to Juliet about her and Paris, Juliet disagrees and her father threatens her to either marry Paris or be kicked out onto the streets alone. This sets imagery because you see what would happen to Juliet in the future if she does not do what her father desires for her to do. Soon later Juliet’s father has a change of mind and sets a plan to set off the wedding. Juliet’s father makes a plan to drug her so she sleeps for a long amount of time and can’t attend her wedding to make her happy. This is where it sets imagery because as Juliet’s father is announcing the plan you can picture what it’s going to be like and you come up with what could go wrong along with other friends and families

    Romeo and Juliet is a play of love and hatred. In the centre of it all is Juliet, barely fourteen and still reliant on her wet nurse, yet willing to take her own life then to live without the one she loves. In the short four days, in which the play takes place, Juliet faces more than most in a lifetime. She is forced into marriage, she secretly marries an enemy of her house, her new husband kills her cousin and is exiled only allowing her one night of wedded bliss. She has to pretend to kill herself only to find her husband dead beside her, after which she takes her own life. During this emotional rollercoaster Juliet changes from an innocent, naïve thirteen-year-old to a defiant and independent young heroine.     Someone once said, "All literature shows us the power of emotion. It is emotion, not reason that motivates characters in literature." This means that all literature is an expression of emotion and it is the emotion that is the main character, and often the setting and theme as well. It is not the reasoning within the story that draws you in, but rather how the story deals with the emotions we all have felt. It provides us with a possible scenario of the impact of focusing only on emotion and losing focus on reason. The power of emotion driving literary characters to see their emotions through, make us wish we could feel so strongly about something or someone and the way we would all like to think we would see our emotions through. Atticus Finch, from the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, and Romeo Montague from Shakespeare's drama, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, both are driven only by their emotions. Both are so driven to see their powerful emotions, no matter what might happen to them, that their emotion and the opposite emotions of everyone else around them becomes the main character, setting and theme in these stories. You are drawn in to the emotion by asking would I have the courage to stand up to my home town full of racism to seek justice for a black person as Atticus did in To Kill A Mockingbird?     I really liked Romeo and Juliet because of the amount of irony and foreshadowing in the text. For instance, Romeo says “I dreamt my lady came and found me dead. And breathed such life with kisses in my lips”(V.i.6-9). This is an obvious example of foreshadowing to the upcoming scene where Juliet believes that Romeo is dead, and tries to take the poison from his lips. This quote is also a reference to Mercutio’s Queen Mab speech about how dreamers usually see what they want to see in dreams. I like this quote because it relates something from the past to the future through the present and connects everything together. Another thing that I liked was the amount of irony, which is present in Romeo’s choices from the very beginning of the novel where he firsts states that he is in love with Rosaline by saying “that the all-seeing sun ne’er saw her match since the world first begun”(I.iii.99-100). In this scene we find Romeo pining for Rosaline and saying that there is no one in the world more beautiful than her in the world; but then he somehow instantaneously gets over her after seeing Juliet, where he states that he has “ne’er saw true beauty till this night” (I.v.60).     "The older you are, the wiser you get." is a well known proverb that provides insight in human tendencies to be impulsive, perfunctory and hasty. Part of maturing as a human being comes from understanding a predicament, deducing a solution and carefully reasoning whether there will be any consequences and if they would be worth it. Impulsive acts flaunt incompetence and immaturity. Albeit embarrassing regardless, there are often more resilient consequences than merely looking foolish for acting in manners that jeopardize goals and contravene strategies of success. Failing to analyze any situation appropriately in the heat of the moment incurs undesirable outcomes such as a punishment of some sort or in some cases, death. This is the message that William Shakespeare tries to convey in his infamous play, Romeo and Juliet.     Romeo is an essential character worth analyzing in William Shakespeare's famous play, Romeo and Juliet. One way to describe Romeo is determined. Throughout Act 1 in the play at and after the party, he is determined to get Juliet. “What lady’s that, which doth enrich the hand of yonder knight?” (I.ib.46-47) In this line, Romeo is a the party and it is “love at first sight.” Romeo is very in love with Juliet. When Romeo first sees her at the Capulet ball, he completely forgets about Rosaline and falls in love with Juliet at first sight. When he meets her, Romeo quotes, “My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand to smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss” (I.iv.97-98). By this line, Romeo is discussing how each of his lips is ready to kiss Juliet. Romeo is so much in love with Juliet that he becomes very romantic forgetting all about Rosaline. Romeo loves Juliet. “O. she doth teach the torches to burn light!” He says this in (I.v. 49) after he sees her at the party. Romeo tries to talk to her all night. The first thing Romeo tells Juliet that he wants to kiss her. He gets into fights with people over her. Romeo marries Juliet in secret, and even eventually kills himself because he thinks that she is dead. Even when Romeo is banished for killing Tybalt, he cannot bring himself to leave Juliet, and even sneaks with determination back to Verona to facilitate their getaway.…

    In many literary works, there are methods that authors use to make a story better. In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, dramatic irony is the driving method. Dramatic irony is something in which characters do not know something, but the reader or audience knows what the true reality is. According to some researchers, “A staple of Elizabethan and Shakespearean drama was dramatic irony” (Halio 25).
