Organizational Theory
There are 3 theories that fall in this category
1.
2.
3.
Contingency theory- organizations are created or structured to achieve specific goals, such as crime control. For example we have, Americas most wanted, crime stoppers, and neighborhood watch. Crime prevention also fits in the lines as far as a crime control.
Institutional theory- organizations are social institutions that operate in relation to their external social and political environments. Another way to look at how institutional environments work is looking into the everyday life of a prisoner, each prisoner is different yet they still follow code inside where there are “food chain like” conduct code between inmates.
Resource dependency theory- organizations must obtain resources to survive, and to obtain resources, they must engage in exchanges with other organizations in their environment.
Management Theory
.
ensuring officers within the department and the community are being properly managed, and properly seeking out crime in an appropriate way.
Officers are expected to follow the law when seeking justice and protect the community at all costs.
